Warning: Spoilers
Okay, hear me out.

I'm basing my review and score after finding out what happens to Crowley later on in the series.

So there are some SPOILERS here if you haven't seen the show beyond this episode.

First off, the idea that Crowley would go after characters that Sam and Dean had saved previously is a great idea.

It's a way to bait the brothers into doing his bidding, and is completely in character for the King of Hell.

But as much as like the fact that they brought Sarah (Taylor Cole and other previous characters back for this), after one of the most memorable episodes from Season 1, I really don't understand why the writers felt the need to completely kill her off.

Yes, we know that Crowley is evil and at times he has to show he has the upper hand over the Winchesters.

But knowing how his story unfolds in a later season, makes this episode feel very hollow. An even more hollow feeling than I had after seeing Sarah die.

Between this episode and Crowley's death, there's no revenge from the brothers for this horrible act: Crowley killing Sam's first love interest after losing Jessica.

They never get close to hurting Crowley in the way that he hurt Sam.

It also makes it seem like Sam is the one being punished but what about Sarah's husband, and her kids?

Sure, plenty of innocent people have died across the series, but for me this felt a step too far simply because Crowley doesn't get his comeuppance due to this incredibly cruel ending for Sarah.
