Somehow it kind of works
7 April 2023
A visually stunning retelling of the Red Riding Hood tale (I think) that is a bit muddling but the atmosphere of the film raises it above the average fantasy film of the time. The main character Rosalee (Sarah Patterson) is having a nightmare about strange happenings in the Middle Ages. Here she's told stories of werewolves by her granny (Angela Lansbury). It's certainly a strange film and at times can seem a bit confusing. Patterson holds the film together with a brilliant performance as the films heroine, but the main star of the film is the visual effects that are pretty decent for the time. A curio I think.
