Dumbo is a endearing short movie, which a large focus on feeling left out, and a lengthy sad tone overall. With it's highs only being at the start and the end, the middle section, even whilst being a short movie, feels long.

Animation is good, though it felt not as detailed and refined as the previous films. Snow White still stands at the top so far. Dumbo has a few nice shots. But generally it's fairly barren. The art it fine. But nothing that really captured me and hooked me into the movie. The only thing that did that was the music.

The music, Casey Junior and the song with the crows are fantastic, catchy and smart. Besides that there's another sad song but it didn't really stay with me. That said those two songs are fantastic and once they start it really gets you going.

Story is simple, good, but a heavy focus on the sadder or more depressing part of it. The sidekick character is supposed to counter this, being the light in the dark, and supposedly funny. But he never worked for me sadly. He was cheeky, but not very empathetic or funny. Besides that it's a short movie, so the story also wraps up quick. But again, the pacing felt off and I wish it was a bit more balanced.

Characters, lets just say, Dumbo's reveal is incredible and the character is animated to be exceptionally cute. A impressive feat to make a baby elephant feel as or cuter than a baby cat/dog/pets.

Interestingly as well the movie is a bit of a time capsule that still feels conflicted. Because it portrays the Circus as a evil thing, but at the same time also a happy thing. In current times you definitely don't watch a lot of the circus scenes with a smile, more so with disapproval. If the movie was anti circus, the ending would've been very different.

Nothing much else, it's a classic. So I wanted to see it, but I don't think I'd rewatch it.
