Cool, Sean Connery-led caper

Based on the Michael Crichton novel, this excellent police yarn breezes through it's running time, thanks for a tremendous cast, and a fun, well-rendered script. Just before the Senate is to vote on a Japanese corporation takibg over a U. S. based semiconductor firm, a giant party is held at their new stateside headquarters. All is well until a call girl is found dead on their boardroom table. Brought in to Investigate is Web Smith, played with excellent depth by Wesley Snipes. After a mysterious phone call he picks up Connery's John Connor, a police captain with mysterious ties to Japan. Is the case as open and shut as it appears? This is the kind of movie that no longer gets made. Moves at a snails pace, with a subtle streak of wink and nod humor throughout. An exciting male soap opera, viewers should have a lot of fun guessing at the whodunnit, and the inevitable payoff. For many reasons, recommended.
