Chuck Reardon (Bing Crosby) and Fearless Hubert Frazier (Bob Hope) are an entertainment carnival duo. Chuck is the barker. Fearless gets seemingly shot out of a cannon. They accidentally burn down the big top. They continue to do their acts all over the world. They are about to go back to the States when Chuck buys a diamond mine. Julia Quimby (Una Merkel) begs them to save her friend Donna LaTour (Dorothy Lamour) from white slavery.
It's the second in the 'Road to' series. This one proves that the first one was no fluke. Bob Hope is bringing the jokes even faster. Bing Crosby seems to be catching up to his speed. In this one, he's more willing to cross-talk with Bob. The slave auction almost ruins this for me. The scam saves this by out-thinking the premise, but the movie still goes back to the savage native premise. It is what it is.
