Warning: Spoilers
I remember when this movie came out forty years ago that even at that time people complained about the inappropriateness of the drug humor in it (the ads called it a real "toot" saying Jekyll could take his scientific discovery and shove it up his nose. It was that blatant. I watched this movie and laughed at it but felt very ashamed afterwards. I was amazed when I read some of the people who worked on the Dick Van Dyke show wrote the script! Mark Blankfield is a wonderfully intense zany comic actor who does a good job as the straight laced Jekyll and the crazed sex fiend Hyde playing both characters with equal conviction. An interesting footnote I wanted to mention is that Krista Errickson who plays the lustful slutty Ivy (she had also previouslly co starred on the infamous McLean Stevenson show Hello Larry) became a very respected journalist after getting out of acting. Yes this movie will make you laugh but in the end you are ashamed and I think its appropriate it ends showing Robert Louis Stevenson literally turning in his grave!
