Why didn't the writes fix this obvious plot issue?
If there is a riot that ruins your plans for a lunch date, why wouldn't you go back to the theater (where they met twice before) the next day to see each other. If your that much in love, that's what you would do. However, to never go back to the theater where your friends are where, the movies you love to watch are shown, and where you met the man you love, defies logic.
Then, for years and years, to pine over the guy as the love of your life made no sense. So much potential lost.
You want to see a well made Italian heartbreaking romance go watch "Cinema Paradiso ".
