A Separation (2011)
8/10
The ending is critical !
2 December 2023
A seperation is an Iranian film made by Sir Asghar Farhadi. Technically it is good, well presented events of an Iranian couple struggling with various family issues. This presentation makes the movie a universal themed one, worthy of watch for the international community. Though the film progresses fast and neglects the steadiness still it manages to point clearly the reality of human lives. The acting feels very unemotional, raw and plain, like simply reading text from script, lacks the brilliancy in it. The plot is good though, may be a bit complex with many characters involved but have relationship significance.

The significance is that the husband and the wife decision to seperate is perhaps not accepted by the nature. So, the husband faces troubles during such decision. The wife has to intervene in order to save him from those troubles. And she finally succeeds in saving him. Then they face the final issue, the decision of their daughter, which remains unclear until credits roll. This means human's decision to do something may or maynot be executed if not in line with nature. So the title of the film practically, A seperation never actually happenned. They remained with one another through various ups and downs. Though the ending is made critically still from the narrative mood it could be understood about its positive ending, ie finally remaining together.

The film have brilliantly depicted the divine issue amidst human lives and where humans makes mistakes and how the Lord helps. It is actually the deeper meaning of the film which may or may not be accepted by many viewers. An 8/10. An 84 on a scale of 100.
