early spoof
18 December 2023
It's Halloween, Friday the 13th, and Jamie Lee Curtis' birthday. A serial killer calling himself "the Breather" is killing. He makes a phone call and kills two Lamab High School students. Of course, there are more to come.

It's an early spoof of the new age of slasher horror movies. It is interesting that these are their contemporaries and still relatively new. This is not the best made, but there is some fair spoof humor. Some jokes get repetitive. For example, the breathing is funny until it keeps coming back. At some point, the humor is gone. I would really consider doing the breathing only for the phone calls. There is a constant point out the mistakes of the victims and a running count of the dead. Richard Belzer is the most recognizable name in the cast although he doesn't get on screen. Otherwise, these are mostly unknowns and amateurs. Despite the lack of experience, they do well. This low budget indie was filmed in Texas. It does run out of steam before getting to the halfway point. It's not a crash as much as it plateaus and fades over time. The way to save it would be a more charismatic Toby. She's just not a star.
