Believing in one's truth

Warning: Spoilers
Law & Order SVU has been a favorite of mine for years. But every once in awhile there is an episode moves my emotions unexpectedly.

This is the story of a prize fighter who is assulted just before his big return fight in the ring from a shoulder injury. The episode becomes the usual whodunnit of course and the production value and script, though a little twisty, holds together. The regular cast as always is amazing on a chase scene in this episode has some amazing editing to add to the tension of the chase. Bravo.

But it was the end of the episode where the victim reveals his truth to the world that struck a chord with me. As a gay man myself who came out after my 30s after growing up in the Midwest it definitely resonated with me. And I would say it is still difficult sometime to reveal my truth, because you never feel completely safe in how folks will react. I'm not afraid to share who I am and I am proud of who I am because it is just a part of what makes me who I am. I agree with the fighter when he says I am a fighter... I am a warrior. I couldn't be but moved my the scene. Thank you Law & Order SVU.
