PLOT Spoilers. Steven Grant (Oscar Isaac ) works as a vendor at the Egyptian Museum in London. He has nighttime nightmares and uses ankle restraints to keep him from sleepwalking. His night dreams are very vivid. Arthur Harrow (Ethan Hawke ) appears in his dream as a cult leader who follows Ammit (Saba Mubarak). We later discover that Harrow is the avatar of Ammit and wants to resurrect the goddess. The goal is for the goddess to judge the hearts of men and eliminate those who are bad or will be bad, i.e. Kill Hitler as a youth. He needs a scarab that Steven possesses to find her tomb. Steven is prevented from surrendering the scarab as he is the avatar for Konshu (F. Murray Abraham ) the moon god who prefers to have people die first before they are judged. As the episodes go on we discover Steven is also Marc Spector who is married to Layla (May Calamawy ) who is just as confused as I am.
The early episodes are like a Twilight Zone mystery until you find out what is going on. Why they used Konshu instead of Thoth for the moon god or Maat for the judgment goddess is not known. What was nice is that there was no Mummy and Brendan Fraser.
