I read these stories as a child in the 80s and I have read them to my five year old daughter for the past three years. This series really does honor the simplicity of the stories written decades ago, from the content to the simple language (they were written to be easy for new readers to read). The series also quite closely matches the original illustrations from the stories. It's really beautifully done. We just discovered the series yesterday and my daughter is going nuts about it. I can't stop watching myself. In order to make the stories long enough for the 15 minute slot, there are a few additional details added into each one, but nothing that makes a negative impact.
