Review of Blanket

Fargo: Blanket (2023)
Season 5, Episode 8
How the mighty have fallen
6 January 2024
Warning: Spoilers
This show has fallen off. Season 5 has had interesting elements at times, but clumsy storytelling. Most of the men are portrayed as idiots and/or bad natured, yet Graves was interesting, but then they have him dumbly waltz on to the ranch alone without telling anyone and the sheriff murders him? Also, why would they let him on to ranch when they had just refused and shot at a cop? And why isn't that cop calling for reinforcements? I get the Sheriff is suppose to powerful in the state, but still clumsy storytelling. The season seems overly and dumbly unrealistic. Fargo use to be smart and eccentric, now just the latter in less satisfying form. Season 1 and 2 were phenomenal storytelling. Lester Nygaard? Lorne Malvo? Peggy Blumquist? Hanzee? Mike Milligan? Amazing characters! Season 3 was alright. Season 4 only had the crazy nurse going for it. I was hoping season 5 might have been a return to earlier brilliance, but seems they ought to just call it quits after this one.
