The Great Christmas Switch (2021 TV Movie)
6/10
A gimmick at best

I tried to get through this with a little bit of enthusiasm. Who doesn't like a good switch story? Most of them have some interesting twist or crazy stuff happens, life can change for the characters, things fall apart. Well, it all happens in this film, but it's so devalued I am understandably confused. Why are they taking all the great entertainment nuggets and turning them into mush? Who knows. The director really missed the mark with this production, but I had to get through for the sake of meticulousness. Ok, so anything I say next about what they did painfully wrong will be a spoiler, and so I'm not going to ruin your potential fun experience. I had some fun, but it's such a slow starter it was hard to last long enough to get to the "good" parts. At about 3/4 through, things get interesting and stuff starts falling apart in a big way, but for some reason they had to cut the drama in half for no good reason. But anyways, I enjoyed the last 20 minutes or so, it was fun, even if downplayed. If I had to pick a movie where the crew apparently sabotaged the production for no good reason, it would be 'The Great Christmas Switch'. I am perplexed. A chimpanzee could've picked a better way to tell this story.
