Rent-A-Pal is slow but riveting. About an hour in I'm enjoying the journey and I have no idea why! It is really weird how compelling this descent into madness is.
The acting and the characters are very engaging and the whole movie is darkly humorous whilst maintaining a sinister/disturbing feel to events.
From the trailer I think I was expecting the Rent-A-Pal VHS to be somehow interactive with the real world, but it's not that simple and the result is more satisfying for it.
I don't think I have seen many movies like this one before, but it was a nice surprise to stumble across this little gem.
Probably not for everyone, but I really liked it 7/10.
