Skinamarink (2022)
7/10
Not for everybody, but certainly unique and unsettling

I really do get why some (or many) people don't like this movie. I, however, thought it was horrifying. This was genuinely the first horror I've watched where I had to cover my eyes because I was scared.

It could be seen as boring, sure, but the movie is based on building tension, I think. It doesn't really have a "release", which most horror movies do have. You feel something is coming and it just never really comes, which is frustrating, but it does have an effect.

I do agree that it could've been shorter. There was A LOT of unnecessary footage. Most of the unnecessary footage was used to build tension, but it really could have been so much less.

Near the end I was kind of fed up with it. I was scared shitless, sure, but I really did just want it to end. It was just 20-something minutes too long.

The way the frames were always off-centre was, to me, what was so uncanny about it. The characters were never really in frame and you couldn't really see anything, which makes you wonder if you actually did see something move.

I also very much liked the story/plot itself. I thought it was very unique, although the plot was a bit thin.

My advise; if you like movies that keep you guessing and are mostly based on tension building, then this is one for you. Oh, and if you're past 50/60 minutes and you think it's boring (or you simply don't like it), then turn it off.
