Priscilla (2023)
5/10
What did I just watch? Bad, very bad.

I'm giving this a five, because I feel bad for giving it anything less, because it seems like they did attempt to make an effort, but that effort fell very short. Honestly, this would've been so much better as a docuseries, or a docudrama. This needs at least six or seven episodes. It was way too condensed.

I'm very familiar with the work of the main actor, and he was amazing in euphoria. Do we need to put him in every single movie? He didn't really look like Elvis Presley, but close enough. I know he's a good actor, but I don't think he had a good script to work with.

The young lady who played Priscilla just wasn't right for the role. Again, it's very possible that the script was just so poorly written, that these actors had nothing to work with.

The music was very good, and it pulled the movie along ever so sluggishly.

The cinematography and the costumes were really good, where it made you feel like you were in that period.

The script was bad. It was just very bad, it was 1 1/2 hours of just pure strangeness. I think the writer was trying to make it like some type of art house film, but it just didn't work. I felt like everyone in this role was taking Valium. It was so flat and dull and boring.

And plus come on people we know this story, and we know it well. If you made it into a docudrama or a docuseries, we could've at least gotten a better idea of the characters. There was no character development, just a cursory look at each person.

It was like I was in some type of weird dream. The show just started and then it ended. It may have given you three minutes of an entire decade. It just didn't make any sense. Who is Priscilla, does she feel a certain way? She had the same flat tone throughout the whole movie as did Elvis. The emotion was completely lacking. I was really expecting more.
