Yeah, this was a dissapointment.

Warning: Spoilers
Coming off Heartstopper, hearing that Sebastian Croft (who played one of the best villains in a teen show that I've seen) was the protagonist in this film was enough to win me over.

I am never making that mistake again.

First up: Archie (the protagonist) is a horrible person. The lengths he goes to trying to get Amelia to like him in this film are obsessive and incredibly toxic, and he really didn't deserve the happy ending he got. Croft is trying, but the script really drags him down. The titular Billy Walsh is a blank slate, and his lack of a costume change is noticable, the film makes it obvious he isn't going to be the end choice, killing any tension and interest in the plotline. Amelia is underdeveloped, and only really exists to be Archie's love interest.

The other thing I want to note: the comedy is terrible. 4th wall comedy can be amazing, but dear GOD is it terrible here. It's cheesy, and not in a campy or endearing way. It's just insufferable.

The 2 leads try to elevate the film, and Nick Frost and Masie Peters can do no wrong, but this film wasn't enjoyable in the slightest.
