I personally really like the show. I haven't seen much of the old one. Many people probably don't like it because it is a reboot of a classic. And it has changed a lot from the original. This happens with many other popular TV shows, leaving many people who grew up with the series to not like it. From what I've seen, I think this one is more colorful and funny. I do think this one's better. With all the new characters it provides a fun twist on the original. Although it is hard to compare them seeing that they are still different. I would still recommend watching it. You can watch either without seeing the other.
