I watched this the other day in a home DVD triple bill along with 1995 Pride & Prejudice and the Winslet/Thompson Sense & Sensibility. It was mentioned in lots of reviews as being the best Austen adaptation, along with Pride & Prejudice, we thought we'd give it a go. To say we were disappointed is an understatement. It is nothing like as good when compared to Pride & Prejudice or Sense & Sensibility. The plot is muddled, the acting wooden, the sound and camera are technically all over the place. The focus pulling is especially funny. Pride & Prejudice is 6 hours well spent, Persuasion is 2 hours wasted.
