Yes the common often done theme which has been done a lot in episodic tv in fact; even more than film. Including similar episodes in other Twilight Zones.
And the audience along with the characters in the stories never know what us happening? Are the protagonists right or losing their mind? Is everyone playing a joke? Are they dead etc? Which will it turn out to be? I'm actually writing this in real time while currently watching the episode. And haven't read any spoilers. And feeling so sorry for Richard Long's character. He's been in other great TZ episodes too!
