I can't believe people live this episode but seem to hate the previous episode Cavender is Coming, it has a much better message than this one.
If they just had previous students who were all alive explain how much Fowler meant to them it would be great. Of course it would also not have the Twilight Zone treatment. It would just be a total remake of - as people have said here - Goodbye Mr Chips.
But what I couldn't take is that all the kids 'returning' here are dead ones. Sure they were heroes and brave but I'm sure it's not only one teacher who gave them this quality. Sure I'm being pedantic and of course back in the time of this episode it was all about bravery. To me it came across as everyone he taught were dumb enough to get themselves killed! However I did love Donald Pleasence's performance. Amazing seeing him with hair even if it was white hair!
