Warning: Spoilers
. . . Tex Avery, the Benedict Arnold of the American Film Industry, stole this "Tom and Jerry" cartoon template (A CAT'S TALE) from famed Warner Bros. director Friz Freleng and absconded with it to rival film studio MGM, a Racist Outfit (see GONE WITH THE WIND) run by a bunch of Repug Rich People's Party Bozos representing the USA's Corrupt Job-Killing Demonic Corporate Culture (which still persists Today). Naturally, these Lame-Brain Fat Cat One Per Center Dilettante Wannabes offered Tex a Pact with the Devil, pointing out that GWTW was a perfect example of how they were able to Rig all the Oscar Elections. Tex was promised a Gelded Statuette every other year to sign on Satan's Dotted Line. Hailing from the Lone Star State, Avery eagerly sold his soul. So watch WARNER BROS.' Tom & Jerry prototype here, complete with "Spike" the bulldog, and ponder all the Extreme Early Warning messages against America's current predicament that were lost forever when a dude named Tex played a game of Cat & Mouse with Destiny.

Agreeably different

Fed up with being chased by the house cat, the mouse stands up to the cat and reasons with him that, just because cats have always chased mice, it doesn't mean they have to continue. When the cat agrees with him, the cat then goes to try the same line of argument with the local bulldog, Spike.

How many different variations on the old mouse/cat/dog have their been? With so many, it is rare for me to come across one that actually manages to come across as unique or at least different from the usuals. However, this cartoon managed to do it by making it more about diplomacy that anything else. The mouse and the cat work things out in an adult fashion, the cat sets out to do the same with the dog, but things don't go to plan. It does have the usual relationships in it but the approach of the characters is quite funny.

The characters are quite nondescript and I didn't really like the voices used - too posh almost! The looks are good though, and they do come across like they have been drawn as opposed to being bland creations with no imagination. In fact the whole cartoon is well drawn and even the backgrounds are well animated and not just rolling scenery.

Overall, this cartoon is not as funny as some others but it's different qualities make it worth seeing. The humour is in the very unusual characters rather than just physical things. It ain't great but it is funny and different enough to justify watching.

WHY?!

I really appreciate "The Cat's Tale". While it's far from one of the funnier cartoons from Looney Tunes, it has a very innovative plot....which makes it well worth your time.

The cartoon starts off with a very familiar plot...a cat is chasing a mouse around the house. Suddenly, however, the mouse stops running...he's had enough! The futility of all this is annoying and he's sick of it...and actually convinces the cat this is true. So, the cat then goes to Spike the dog to discuss this and how he's finished running from the dog....with predictable results.

Overall, a clever cartoon...well worth seeing.
