Sex & Nudity

  • The cheerleaders are often scantily-clad.
  • Some of the half-time shows are suggestive.

Violence & Gore

  • Football is a contact sport, so obviously there will be some "violent" play.
  • Athletes are often injured, sometimes seriously. Injuries are sometimes shown on-screen but they make a point of cutting away quickly for the sake of young audiences (it didn't used to be that way however, so some older games may show injuries up close and in graphic detail).
  • Every once in a while, athletes will get into physical fights with each other or referees. Sometimes there will be small riots among the fans, such as throwing beer bottles at referees.

Profanity

  • An athlete or coach might cuss out a referee, but rarely can you hear anything specific. Some sings made by fans might contain obscenities.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Some fans can be seen drinking and smoking.
  • Some athletes take steroids, so every once in a while the newscasters might comment about performance-inhancing drugs.
  • In at least one game, fans rioted and threw beer bottles at the referees.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Fans riot sometimes, but this is rare.
