Yawner from overrated Continental pornographer
lor_24 June 2015
I've never understood the sort-of-cult following surrounding porn director Jean- Marie Pallardy - his work including this dull picture is uninteresting. I once got to meet (briefly) the great man at a Cannes Film Festival Market in the '80s but that had no affect on my reaction.

Wasted here is the fabulous Dutch star Willeke van Ammelrooy, whose beauty and acting ability have graced many fine movies.

Storyline is absurd, on purpose, as our sexy hero Jean-Marc (played by the director himself) is the son of a Nobel prize winner. Dad the professor has disappeared into the countryside of a painting hanging on his wall - a fanciful but rather pointless gimmick. What follows is basically a trite rendition of very familiar '60s themes of freedom, beginning again (dad is now an old lumberjack), hedonism, etc., all fertile material in the hands of a creative artists. Too bad JMP is not that cat.

The women are beautiful and featured with full-frontal nudity. As star/director, Jean-Marie reminded me here of Jerzy Skolimowski, but lacking his talent. A lot of the content is dubious, notably an unfunny rape scene with Willeke that is totally out-of-place given the film's light tone, and a silly gimmick involving a shortage of local girls for the sex industry. In one slapstick scene the good guys sic nude girls on their adversaries - pretty dumb though I admit that if Benny Hill did it I'd accept it without question.
