Despite being credited as a regular cast member, Michael Winslow appears in only thirteen of the twenty-six episodes.
Although Michael Winslow had a recurring role on the series as Sergeant Jones, there were also other familiar faces from the Police Academy movies making guest appearances from time to time. The series guest stars included:
-Bubba Smith as Moses Hightower, who had earned the rank of Captain.
-David Graf as Captain Eugene Tackleberry, with two nephews in the Academy.
-Leslie Easterbrook as Debbie Callahan, now a District Attorney.
-Tim Kazurinsky (Carl Sweetchuck) as the Academy's janitor.
-Art Metrano (Mauser) as Ernie Meiser, now a County Sheriff.
-George R. Robertson as the Commissioner, now with a devil-horned hairstyle.
-Kenneth Mars (The Mayor) as Dr. Quackenbush.
-George Gaynes as Eric Lassard, now retired and touring dark jungles.

Was the last time that David Graf played the role of Tackleberry. Graf died in 2001. In the series, Tackleberry had two nephews in the Academy. His character was very watered down compared to the movies though, as Tack had inexplicably replaced his love of guns with "paintball" firearms instead.
The building where the cadets reside, is called the "Lassard Dormitories", named after Eric Lassard, the Academy's commandant from the film series.
Producers had hoped for guest appearances from Steve Guttenberg, Janet Jones, Bobcat Goldthwait, Lance Kinsey, and G.W. Bailey, but this did not end up happening, due to scheduling conflicts.
