Eight Nostalgic Shorts in the Wonderful City in the 60's
claudio_carvalho19 November 2012
This film is composed by eight shorts in Rio de Janeiro made by six directors:

1st: "Uma Vez Flamengo" ("Once Flamengo"): Two fans of the greatest Brazilian soccer team are totally drunk when their team, Flamengo, is defeated and they decide to punish their wives. In the end, they disclose a secret to each other. Directed by Valquíria Salvá, this is one of the weakest episodes with a silly story.

2nd: "Mulher à Vista" ("Woman in Site"): A voyeur peeps at his neighbor for days with his binoculars expecting to see her naked breasts. He has an argument with his friend and tells that only a car crash would help him in his intent. When there is a car accident on the street, the voyeur succeeds in seeing the teats of his neighbor but when he looks at the street, he has a surprise. Directed by Alberto Savá, this episode keeps the erotic tension but ends without humor.

3rd: "10 Anos de Casado" ("10 Years of Marriage"): After ten years of marriage, a suburban man prefers his chicken to his wife. One day, she prepares a very special dinner for him. Directed by Carlos Alberto Camuyrano, this episode is pure black humor.

4th: "A Santinha do Encantado" ("The Little Saint from Encantado"): In Encantado, a girl pretends that she can see Our Lady and her greedy father lures the believers to make money. Directed by Daniel Chutorianscy, this is another weak episode about people that are lured due to their faith.

5th: "O Apartamento" ("The Apartment"): A young couple borrows an apartment from a friend to have sex since they are not accepted in hotels. However, the place is a rendezvous with many costumers. Things get complicated when the owner, who is the aunt of the friend, unexpectedly arrives. Directed by Alberto Savá, this is the funniest episode with the common procedure of youths in the 60's and 70's of borrowing apartment from friends to have sex with the girlfriends.

6th: "Os Canarinhos de N.S. da Dores" ("The Little Canneries of Our Lady of Pain"): A priest uses his coral and a roof problem in the church to get more contribution from his parishioners. Directed by Paulo Veríssimo, this episode is only reasonable.

7th: "Hei de Vencer" ("I Will Win"): A travesty presents his show to a choreographer and to the owner of the night-club and they love it. However, he is an unemployed man married with a boy that needs a job to make money. Directed by Alberto Salvá, this is the best episode. However, it is not a comedy but a drama.

8th: "O Grande Dia" ("The Great Day"): A man from a poor community will sing in the popular Brazilian freshman show of Chacrinha. He has his day of star with his friends but when the time for the presentation comes, he freezes and fails. Directed by Carlos Alberto Abreu, this is another dramatic episode and very nostalgic for people of my generation that watched to the Chacrinha freshman show. My vote is seven.
