We finally know a bit more about Aaron Sorkin’s long-gestating follow-up to “The Social Network.” He may want to update some “West Wing” set pieces.
Sorkin said during “The Town” podcast that he blames Facebook for the January 6, 2021 insurrection on the Capitol led by right-wing extremists. A sequel is born.
Sorkin knows a thing or two about Facebook: “The Social Network” charted the creation of social media platform Facebook. The Oscar-winning feature was released in 2010 and won the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay.
On “The Town,” when asked about his take on the current state of politics, Sorkin said, “Look, yeah, I’ll be writing about this. I blame Facebook for January 6.”
When pressed for more details, he added: “You’re going to need to buy a movie ticket.”
Per The Hollywood Reporter, Sorkin was previously working on a January 6 script as well. That one was shelved. Sounds...

Aaron Sorkin, the famed writer behind films like The Trial Of The Chicago 7 and The Social Network as well TV shows like The West Wing, has been chatting about what he’s working on next.
Sorkin told The Town podcast (via The Hollywood Reporter) that he blames Facebook for the events of 6 January when thousands of Donald Trump supporters attacked the United State Capitol Building in Washington DC.

Aaron Sorkin is writing a new movie that could serve as a sequel to The Social Network.
The Oscar-winning screenwriter broke the news when he was asked during a live-from-d.C. edition of The Town podcast about how Facebook and social media have influenced democracy in the years since his 2010 hit.
“Look, yeah, I’ll be writing about this,” Sorkin told Matthew Belloni and Peter Hamby. “I blame Facebook for January 6.”
When asked why he blames a social media company for a pro-Donald Trump mob storming the U.S. Capitol, Sorkin replied, “You’re going to need to buy a movie ticket.”
Pressed if that means he’s writing this idea specifically as a movie, Sorkin replied, “I’m trying. Facebook has been, among other things, tuning its algorithm to promote the most divisive material possible. Because that is what will increase engagement. That is what will get you...

The Veil is another example of why we are in the golden age of brilliant female characters on screen. These strong, smart, and cunning female characters own the screen and set them ablaze. It just so happens that many can be found on FX. A network that celebrates edgy and innovative storytelling, with great female roles at the series center.
Often, these roles subvert female stereotypes. You have Anna Sawai’s brilliant performance in Shōgun, one of the greatest roles in television history, who gives a thoughtful, sumptuous, and cunning performance. Then, last year, in A Murder at the End of the World, Emma Corrin brought to life one of the most complex characters on television in recent memory.

Martin Sheen has taped a new digital spot for the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, calling attention to one of the party’s biggest challenges this cycle: retaining their Senate majority.
“While I played a fictional president on television, I’ve spent my life outside of acting devoted to political activism. Frankly, I’m concerned about what’s at stake in this year’s elections,” Sheen said.
“This year’s elections will be some of the most important in our nation’s history. With health care, voting rights, climate action, and the very future of our democracy all on the line, I’m asking you to join me and help defend our Democratic Senate majority,” he said.
The spot will be sent out on social media to engage grassroots supporters.

From the idyllic coastlines of New England to the sunny Pacific coast, from the Jersey Shore to the Southern Gulf Shore, from Midwest prairie land to Southwest deserts and canyons — the United States offers a variety of cultures, climates and land masses that have provided the backdrops to some of the best television series of all time. We’ve set out to discover the best program set in each state, which brought about some surprises, some difficult decisions and a few no-brainers.
There are some states in which very few series have been set, and some stand out as the unsurprising winner, such as “Ozark” for Missouri or “Yellowstone” for Montana. However, there were a couple of instances in which we had very little to choose from. We planned to only include scripted series, but were surprised to find that Iowa has been home to very few , and those didn’t last long.

In a very unsettled drama Emmy field, one of the few ostensible locks this year is Elizabeth Debicki. With 4/1 odds, she is the runaway favorite to take home the Best Drama Supporting Actress Emmy for her turn as Princess Diana on “The Crown,” which would make the Netflix series the sixth show to deliver two different winners in the category.
Twelve shows have won drama supporting actress more than once. Of those, seven shows have had one person triumph repeatedly, including “Lou Grant” for Nancy Marchand, who won a record four times, and most recently “Ozark” for three-time champ Julia Garner. The five shows that saw the wealth spread among its cast members are “St. Elsewhere”, “The West Wing”, “Hill Street Blues”, “The Practice” and “thirtysomething”. No show has had more than two cast members win the award.
Interestingly, Marchand (1980-82; her first win was in ’78), Roberts (1983), Woodard (1984), Thomas (1985), Bartlett...

Granted, it wasn’t exactly like David-penned Seinfeld finale as, on Curb, Jerry Seinfeld’s chance encounter with a Joe Pesci lookalike leads to a jury nullification and mistrial, setting our cranky hero free once again.
Before that last minute Deus Ex Jerry, however, Curb Your Enthusiasm gets to indulge in the best part of the Seinfeld ending of yore by having many, many guest stars and other faces from the show’s past make appearances. From the prosecutor to the judge to all the witnesses that attest to Larry’s poor character, the Curb finale has many guest star roles to fill. Here’s how it fills them.

As streaming prices soar higher we’re always looking for ways to cut costs. One of the smartest ways to save is with an annual plan. Not all services offer them, but if you can afford the early financial hit up front, you can save a bundle over the long haul.
In some cases, streaming services are available as add-ons to Prime Video. We recommend starting with a free trial that way. You’ll be able to sample the service for a full week. Unfortunately, you are not able to add annual plans to Prime Video add-ons.

There is no The Strangers franchise without Bryan Bertino, who directed the original home invasion movie that paved the way for a sequel and now a reboot trilogy later this year.

Vicious has already been dated for release on August 8, 2025, and Deadline brings us another update this week. For starters, Devyn Nekoda (Scream VI) will also star.

The Western is a genre that's mostly gone by the wayside in recent decades, as portraits of straight-shooting American heroes and uncomplicated "bad guys" have become less digestible to the public. While popular neo-Westerns (like "Justified" or the works of Taylor Sheridan) and perspective-changing genre breakdowns have made a splash in recent yers, the genre has mostly died out. Of the relics that remain, few are as prolific and familiar as "Bonanza," a Western series that ran for an impressive 14 seasons on NBC in the '60s and '70s.
As a long-running TV series, "Bonanza" was able to chart the change — or stubborn lack thereof — within the genre and the country, frankly addressing topics like racism and bigotry while also delivering regular laughs and a dash of melodrama to loyal viewers. The series starred Lorne Green as widower Ben Cartwright and Dan Blocker, Pernell Roberts, and Michael Landon as Ben's three sons.

Ayo Edebiri‘s upgrade to lead for Season 2 of “The Bear” has been an unqualified success. She won the Golden Globe and Critics Choice Award for Best Comedy Actress in January, along with the Screen Actors Guild Awards’ single comedy actress prize. In the midst of all that, she took home the Best Comedy Supporting Actress statuette for Season 1 at the delayed Emmy ceremony. And now Edebiri is the odds-on favorite to win the Best Comedy Actress Emmy for Season 2 in September, which would put her on a short list of women who’ve won both comedy lead and supporting trophies.

Stars: Jessica Chastain, Idris Elba, Michael Cera, Kevin Costner, Graham Greene, Chris O’Dowd, Bill Camp | Written and Directed by Aaron Sorkin
Known for his acclaimed screenplays with The Social Network, A Few Good Men, and TV’s The West Wing, Aaron Sorkin made his directorial debut in 2017 with Molly’s Game, an adaptation of Molly Bloom’s 2014 memoir of the same name. The story initially shows Bloom (Jessica Chastain) as a promising skier whose dedication and calculations cannot match an unseen variable in the form of a frozen pinecone.
The film then cuts to twelve years later, when the FBI arrest Molly for running illegal gambling operations. The story then unfolds across two timelines, with the present showing Molly preparing for court with the help of New York lawyer Charlie Jaffey (Idris Elba), while the past shows how former skier went from a career-ending injury to establishing herself running high-stakes poker games.

Seven years ago, Donald Glover won his first two Emmys, Best Comedy Actor and Best Comedy Directing for “Atlanta.” While he missed out on nominations last year for the final season of his FX series — he did receive a writing bid for “Swarm” — Glover is back in the hunt this cycle with “Mr. & Mrs. Smith.” Inspired by the Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie film of the same name, the spy series is competing in drama, which means Glover could become just the second man and third person to win lead Emmys in comedy and drama.
