Not a bad early family drama from HK.

This is a 1950s Hong Kong drama about an extended family trying to fend off the odds of being forced out of their village compound from their corrupt and greedy neighbors. I used to watch it with my mom when I was a kid and, though I wasn't too much into historical dramas, I've learned to enjoy this movie a little bit. The plot elements of overcoming the odds, dealing with family issues, sacrifices and love were meaningful in the film and I thought the acting was well done.

Actor Kien Shih of the Bruce Lee movie, Enter the Dragon, has a supporting role in this film.

This movie, titled "Family" in English, actually is one of three movies in a series. The two other parts are titled "Spring" and "Autumn" respectively. "Autumn" is the final chapter in the series.
