With a poll taking place on IMDbs Classic Film board for the best titles of 1965,I decide to take a look at what film Disney had made that year, and I was surprised to find that there was feature film listed at all! Taking a look on Netflix UK a few days ago,I was delighted to discover that an obscure 1965 Disney short had been put on the site, which led to me getting ready to join the Hollywood Coyote.
The plot:
Wandering around a vast desert,a coyote called Chico spots a van parked up with its back doors wide open. Sneaking into the back,Chico keeps his head down as the van drives off. Jumping out,Chico finds himself in Hollywood. Gliding round the city,Chico soon runs into fellow Hollywood coyote's.As the coyote's face animal catchers,a wild fire sweeps across the city.
View on the film:
Filmed during a real wild fire, director Jack Couffer turns Hollywood into a woodland area, thanks to Couffer keep the camera at the coyote's height, which along with giving the title a warm, rustic atmosphere, also makes the outskirts of Hollywood looks like it is returning to the wild life.Along with the great outdoors mood,Couffer also displays a keen eye for slap-stick set pieces, which goes from Chico getting handy with golf balls,to the coyote's running circles round the traps,as Chico leaves the countryside behind for Hollywood.
