James White tackles the genre of People Leaving The Factory by shooting one in front of the Union Iron Works.... or so he claims. Unlike the first movie of its type, shot by the Lumieres in front of their own factory, it's unclear whether people are coming, going, both, or neither. In the Lumieres' film, people march out the gates and disperse. Here they go to the left, to the right, and into the factory in a flurry on motion that starts nowhere and leads nowhere.
