One of the best Valentins
gierenstein5 January 2001
In this one K. Valentin tries to buy a record but can't make up his mind what he actually wants. Liesl Karlstadt as shop assistant attempts to help him, but in vain, as Valentin damages several records and finally also a complete show-case during his visit.

This is one of Valentin's best films. It has virtually no story but one gag comes after the other. If you ever have the opportunity to watch it, you won't be disappointed.

Bull in a record shop Warning: Spoilers
This is a 1934 18-minute short film by German comedy duo Karl Valentin and Liesl Karlstadt. The director is Hans H. Zerlett and I actually wonder if he is somewhat related to Helmut. Anyway, this was a pretty good short movie, black-and-white as always with these two and one of their best in my opinion. I guess I still prefer their orchestra-related short film from slightly earlier, but this one here comes close. Valentin shines as a clumsy customer clueless about everything, but not willing to admit that he is a galoot. Karlstadt plays the store clerk and delivers a pretty good portrayal of being hopelessly overwhelmed and not up to the task of dealing with Valentin's character. Karlstadt plays a woman this time again, not always the case as she also convinced audience in performances where she played the son to Valentin's character for example. All in all, this is a fairly good short film. I certainly recommend it, especially if you have seen all there is to see from the likes of Laurel & Hardy.
