Best of the original Raccoons specials
xxlittlekittenxx22 April 2003
This was the last original TV special starring the Raccoons before they got their own series a couple years later, and it's also my favorite. Though the specials were rather formulaic compared to the series, I still love them because there's something that makes you feel really good when watching them. Probably because the outlook is so positive.

Disney Channel really cut a lot from this special whenever they aired it, so if you want to see the real version, try to find the video.

Lost Star must be found.

We all made out of stardust! Whoever wrote the script for this special, sure had a very empathic nature, really it gives you hope, dream ,joy and cry! I love subtle themes for grown ups as well, a terrors of imperialism and dictators, but also it gives me the chills that we all connected to the system of cosmos we should never war against each other ever. Graphics are all superior.

They Came from Planet Cyril

AKA Lloyds in Space

This special has a cleaner style than the last two specials, and the characters look exactly how they would in the show. They look more human, for one thing. The bags under Cyril's eyes aren't so heavy, Cedric's nose is shorter and slightly wider. As Melissa, Rita Coolidge sounds like the Mother Rabbit from Disney's 'Robin Hood'. Once again, Bert, excellently voiced by Len Carlson, acts obnoxious, but does something really awesome and is at heart very sweet and mild mannered.

I think the whole thing is just Schaeffer's dream, as the focus of most of the short is on him and Sophia.

The animation is solid in parts but other times the characters look kind of off model, such as the length of Sophia's nose changing in between scenes.

The sound design is very Eighties, in a good way.

All in all, I think this is my favourite special.
