Dark sadomasochistic pinku from Hisayasu Sato
HumanoidOfFlesh10 November 2014
"Pervert Ward:S&M Clinic"(1989)by Hisayasu Sato is another dark story of deviant sex and sado-sexual abuse. An abusive psychologist(Kazuhiro Sano) enjoys torturing and abusing his wife (Kiyomi Ito). After rough sexual session of pain and dominance she decides to leave his husband. Then her masochistic twin sister(Kiyomi Ito)arrives and of course plenty of kinky sexual torture and bondage happens next. There is some seriously warped stuff in "Pervert Ward:S&M Clinic" including shibari bondage, drowning torture in a bath tub and high heel used as a sexual toy.The film is well-acted and pretty gloomy. If you like dark and twisted world of Hisayasu Sato you can't go wrong with ""Pervert Ward:S&M Clinic".8 television screens out of 10.

Pointedly extreme and perhaps not for those with more reactionary sensibilities.

It's not too long into this singularly unfiltered, deliriously explicit film that the viewer can bluntly appreciate that there is an aggressively abrasive, disturbingly outre, convention-tweaking atmosphere to director Sato's unhinged 'Pervert Ward: S&M clinic' that is quite specifically, and somewhat stylishly designed to actively repel those unsympathetic to such nakedly provocative, downright debasing sexual imagery, or might greatly stimulate any of those voyeurs who are more in sync with the salaciously sadistic psychologist, Dr. Yazukazu Mizumura (Kazahiro Sano) and the strident, systematic abuses of his sensitive, long-suffering wife (Kiyumi Ito) who actively doesn't share her increasingly depraved husband's sordid passion to inflict tremendous discomfort upon his tightly bound, cruelly incapacitated subordinates.

Once his wife has left her monstrously sadistic husband, Sato's unremittingly stark and morbidly fascinating film becomes an infinitely darker, more explicitly twisted proposition, as under an assumed name her demonstratively masochistic sister enrols for some of Mizamura's 'esoteric therapy', only too eager to discover that the good doctor has a savage penchant for intense sexual torture, shibari bondage, brutal suffocation fantasies; plastic wrap bondage and an especially crude facility for improvised cruelty with any number of household implements! Manifesting her macabre fetish for surgically sharp knives, she zealously expresses her dangerously neurotic desire to relieve/recreate a, perhaps, wholly imaginary natal procedure which increases her willingness to endure all the submissive torment that the inventively disturbed, Dr. Mizumura is only too mustard keen to perpetrate!

Like all of, Hisayasu Sato's films I have had the enormous pleasure of seeing thus far, 'Pervert Ward: S&M Clinic' is exhilaratingly extreme and perhaps not for those with more reactionary sensibilities, but there can be absolutely no doubting the profound integrity and visual dynamism of gifted director Sato, and the cast's bravura performances are wonderfully unrestrained, which is, er, somewhat ironic.

Surprisingly Engrossing!

This movie isn't for everyone. A number of Satõ's films aren't. For those that are, you will not want to miss seeing this one.

Not a complicated plot. A psychologist that studies people by making them listen to white noise and staring into a mirror. His wife is one of his subjects. He also subjects his wife to various S&M activities which she does not enjoy. So she leaves. Enter her twin sister that does enjoy those activities... Those activities include: Bondage, masturbation, spanking, knife play, suspension, using an apple core as a gag, food spat into face, Kissing eyeball, rubber gloves and more. All is a part of the story. Not for the timid or squeamish. This is considered a Horror movie although it really defies any label. Except it is a pink eiga. You may or may not find the sex scenes erotic. I found it more an extension of the characters.

The cast is two people. Kiyomi Ito and Kazuhiro Sano who are both excellent. Kiyomi Ito plays both twins of course. If she didn't, she deserved an award for her performance. One of my favorite Japanese actresses. Their acting really pushed this movie to another level and made it fully work.

This is one of Director Hisayasu Satõ's best. Some people may see this just as a vehicle for the sex scenes. I say the sex scenes are a part of the story, driving it forward. I thought about rating it a 9 instead of a 10 but I couldn't think of anything to deduct. I highly recommend watching.
