What if your idol came to visit you as they were sick of being famous, well you get this silly unrealistic flick
lisafordeay24 April 2015
Warning: Spoilers
I happened to have seen this today on TV and I never seen it before but if you seen the film Starstruck starring Sterling Knight and that other chick who was with him well you have basically seen the whole film by watching this movie. Chris Trousdale plays himself and he is tired of being famous as he is in a band called Dream Street(which I thought was a made up band but it happens to be a real band that Jesse McCartney was in before the band split up).Trousdale was seen on Disney Channel's Shake It Up playing an adult who makes out his 16 years old but really 24. Back to this film however and he ends up in one of his idols houses called Debbie, who has a crush on Chris since his Dream Street days. Of course he ends up staying in her house for a few days and an unlikely set of romance begins to show up with the two charcthers.

Chris reminds me of a young Ryan Reynolds for some strange odd reason and to be fair if you are a die hard fan of Dream Street than you are gonna love this movie or if your a pre-teen than you'd like it too. Me I wasn't the target audience for this(I watch a lot of animated movies especially Disney but hey I love Disney),this movie however was totally unrealistic. Its like if Ed Sheeran or Justin Bieber hated being famous and hooked up with me and we fell in love its basically a fantasy that the writer must have had one of those daydreams of being in love with a famous pop star and getting to hang out with them.

The story is silly, the premise is stupid and seriously the disguise Chris had as a nerd was so stupid like I knew straight away it was him. Granted if he wore a wig and contacts and changed his accent it would be cool but he didn't only a pair of glasses.

Overall like I said this is pure rip off of Disney Channel's Starstruck which came out in 2010. So if you have seen Starstruck then there is no need to have seen this movie.

Even the ending was sorta sappy I could cringe.

One of the better worse movies (some spoilers)
matthutcher20087 April 2007
Warning: Spoilers
First off, this isn't the worse movie i have ever seen, but its definitely not one Im going to go back and watch countless times... I found the plot line to be way too unbelievable: A girl loves Dream Street to a point where it probably should be considered a mental illness, but especially Chris Trousdale (way to conform with almost every other girl who likes Dream Street). So in order to feed her obsession, Debbie and her pseudo-bad ass best friend, Charlotte, decide to buy some Dream Street tickets from a scalper. Charlotte has absolutely no haggling skills.. she stars with $50, then jumps to $200, then to $500. Unfortunately, Debbie and Charlotte ignored the first cardinal rule of ticket scalping, and failed to check the date on the tickets... WRONG DATE DEBBIE! Unfortunately, Charlotte just lost $500 she had in her account for Cosmetology School.

But uh-oh, on the tour bus Chris gets sick and is given way to much medicine, and he gets a little "groggy" and gets behind the wheel of a huge truck, and drives, because thats what people do when they don't want to perform. Luckily for the homely looking, main character, Debbie, Chris inexplicably ends up in her neighborhood; crashing the truck into the front yard of Debbie's stereotype Chinese neighbor, Pat Morita.

So Chris sees a cardboard cutout of himself through Debbie's window, and being so hammered from cough medicine, must think that its him or something... so Christ walks into Debbie's house (lucky for him the front door to her house is open, in the middle of the night!), and wanders up the stairs... Luckily, Chris wanders into the correct room, and hops into bed with Debbie, who doesn't even shift around.

When Debbie wakes up the next morning she looks at her cardboard cutout and says "Good morning baby!" (I guess we can pool Debbie with the girls who make out with the posters of boys in their room), while Christ groggily replies "'Morning Sweetie" and cuddles with Debbie, before she realizes THERE IS A STRANGERS IN HER BED!!!! Then Debbie frantically glances from the boy, to the cardboard cutout, as if she doesn't recognize Chris... Then she calls Charlotte, tells her, goes to school, gets ridiculed by the rich popular people for being a fat loser, and she goes home to bond with Chris, where he decides to stay because he is sick of touring...

Over the course of the next few days, Debbie goes to school, gets made fun of while still being all positive, goes home, avoids doing chores, be with Chris, and that just repeats, while Dream Street songs play every few minutes. Then it turns out Chris loves school, especially math (so the "It Happens Every time" music video lied to us about him struggling with math!), and he goes to school with Debbie, dressed in a ridiculous Stever Urkel outfit. The fact that people don't recognize him is about as ridiculous as the staff at the Daily Planet not recognizing Clark Kent as Superman (a good analogy that is used in this movie, but in a different way).

So after being all profoundly smart in school, giving answers that sound intelligent but aren't actually logical, Christ asks Debbie to prom... in her "annoying beyond believe" voice, Debbie tells Charlotte the good news... Charlotte volunteers to do her hair, and make her look like a model (a plus sized model maybe... I'm sorry that was mean and uncalled for). THEN, like all bad movies, there was a montage!!!! Debbie trying on dresses, Chris trying on tuxes... DAMN! So Chris gets Debbie in a limo, she is dressed in a black and white dress and looks kind of like a prostitute... they go to prom.

The girls at prom think Debbie got a Chris Trousdale look-a-like, and to prove them wrong, Chris goes and changes in his collared, button-down, silk shirt, and his sunglasses (sunglasses in the middle of a dark gym... god i hate that)... BUT THEN, one of the jealous popular girls makes a call, and the people who have been looking for Chris show up, within a matter of seconds (literally, the popular girls left and the people showed up during the same song)... Chris was taken back... So with some help from her brother, Garfield, Debbie and Charlotte go to the concert, and Debbie goes on stage in the middle of a song, and kisses Chris, THE MOVIE ENDS! The movie was kind of unbelievable, and was only mildly entertaining. Throughout the whole movie, you could just tell that Chris thought a lot of himself and was really egocentric... Everything that Debbie and Chris said to each other, and did while joking around, had an underlying sexual tone, just like all of Dream Streets songs (seriously, actually listen to their songs, they are gross... "wanna rock you steady baby...."). Also, aside form the concert sequence and the occasional mention of their names, the other boys from Dream Street weren't there, proving that the other boys' modesty actually balances out Chris's ego!...

But i will admit, the cameos were good... Michael Winslow and Leslie Easterbrook were together, bringing back memories of Police Academy, and Pat Morito, who actually had no significance in this movie, but a humorous relief, made some comment about Daniel-son, which was clever...

Overall, this movie wasn't terrible, but i wouldn't recommend going out of your way to see it... Don't waste money on renting it, but if its playing on TV and you don't have anything else to do, just sit down and watch it...

Good for its time but doesn't age well
lisee_lulu30 November 2023
I know I would've loved this movie when it came out becuase this was exactly what I was into back then. But I didn't even know it existed until I saw it on Prime Video. I could tell it would be terrible, but I watched it anyway for nostalgia sake if nothing else.

So let's put it this way. It's a good movie for its time of early 2000's when boy bands were still a big deal and these sorts of movies were the rage. That's why I would've loved it because I loved boy bands, and still do.

It reminded me of my own little daydreams when I used to wish some big celebrity would knock me off my feet and fall in love with me.

That's why I'm giving it 5 stars because of the nostalgia and the reminder of a time when life was easier. When you could get little 'squee' moments out of a movie like this. When movies weren't so PC.

However it doesn't age well. At all. Watching it in 2023 definitely made me cringe. The acting is terrible. The songs are corny. There is barely a plot.

But I did love the trip down nostalgia lane, so there you go.

A Crap Classic
Crap_Connoisseur15 November 2005
The Biggest Fan reminds me of Vanilla Ice's much maligned masterpiece, Cool As Ice. Both films are fabulously out of touch with reality, contain fun cameos from B-grade fan favourites and are based around dubiously talented male singers who use too much product in their hair. What more could you possibly ask for in a movie?! I'm not sure when I finished being appalled and started to really enjoy this film. I think it was probably when the awesome Pat Morita first appeared as Mr Lim or when I realised that the producers had somehow managed to get Michael Winslow and Leslie Easterbrook to virtually reprise their Police Academy roles. These cameos alone are worth the rental price!

The film really doesn't have a plot to speak of. Chris Trousdale becomes tired of life touring with Dream Street (Sharing a tour bus with Jessie McCartney would drive anyone to insanity) and then, under the influence of cough medicine, manages to escape from boy-band hell in an 18 wheeler. Chris crashes the truck and inexplicably walks into the home of his biggest fan, Debbie. Luckily for Chris, Debbie's front door is unlocked and she appears to be a very heavy sleeper because Debbie doesn't bat an eyelid when Chris climbs into bed with her. The rest of the film involves Chris experiencing life as a normal teenager - complete with a fabulously unconvincing Steve Urkel disguise at school.

I thought that Chris Trousdale was surprisingly competent in the main role. I guess he was only playing himself but it could have been a lot worse (See Mariah in Glitter for the worst singer/actor performance of all time). The actress who played Debbie has an annoying voice and a weird mouth but this just makes her more amusing.

This film has future cult favourite written all over it. Lovers of crappy movies will find much to enjoy in this feast of hilarity.

A Complete Waste of Time! A Bad Movie, But Good to Laugh and/or Cringe At
kobebusia4 March 2013
Let me just start by saying that I had no knowledge of Dream Street's existence until 3 months ago, I just never new about them, but I've at least known about Jesse McCartney as a solo artist for a long time. I started checking out their music videos, live performances, and interviews, and it surprises me that Jesse ended up being the breakout star of the group. Why? Because after seeing that Chris Trousdale was the ultimate favorite member, I find it weird that he didn't become the most successful member. I enjoy Dream Street's music, and I wish I had known about them when I was a little kid. Now, I had only seen parts of this movie, and that was enough for me to know that it sucks, and that it's just a cheap, boring, predictable chick flick, and the fact that Chris Trousdale was playing himself just proves that he has no acting ability. I already know how this plays out, and this kind of story has been used so many times that it just bores you out, and the girl Debbie(Kaila Amariah) has such an annoying and grating voice, it's so sickening and makes you feel like punching her in the face, and the overall premise is so corny. The only good thing about it was probably the soundtrack, which primarily consisted of Dream Street songs, and a few other various artists such as Swedish pop girl group Play, but even so, the soundtrack isn't worth buying. Why? Because it'll end up being a waste of money, especially if you already own Dream Street's album. Another thing I gotta say about this is that how the hell did Pat Morita get roped in to this nonsense, I mean it's sad that he agreed to be apart of this movie. That's all I gotta say about this movie, it's not worth anyone's time. 2/10

SUPER CRINGEY! (but a good film to just laugh at)
nbb11119784 June 2018
I get that it was made a very long time ago and if I was 5 or 6, I would love this film but at the age of 20, I have to say that this movie was super cringey but because of that, I had a good laugh over it. Basically it's about a teen celebrity trying to get away from the spotlight and ends up in his biggest fan's home and falls in love with her (to which I should add that this kind of story is one of my favorites because who doesn't dream that they want to date their favorite celebrity???) That's basically the whole story. Honestly, my friend was staying at my place and watched it with and thank god she did because we just made fun of it all night.

Worst movie I have ever seen
dragon-core22 December 2009
This "movie" is possibly the worst movie I have ever witnessed. The cliché''s, stereotypes and unoriginality breeds for a disgusting and face-palming experience.

The stupidity of the characters is almost equal to that of the actors talent.

Every character and event that occurred in this movie annoyed me greatly.

The movie simply acted as a form of advertising for the boy band and watching it was intellectually challenging.

I recommend to no one.

Speechless
karate_koala7 July 2010
I literally lost the ability to speak from watching this. I'm just glad I did my SAT's before and not after watching this flick.

It was funny though, in a sad miserable talentless way ;)

OK, Just read that i have to write a minimum of 10 lines so here goes:

What an idiotic thing to require!

10 lines??!

wtf?!

OK- the acting was so bad it was painfully entertaining

The lead role was so ridiculous It was hard to believe hes actually successful...

... At anything.

Fun to watch with retarded friends

Though im guessing even your pet will find this film offensive ;)

"The Biggest Fan" will be a definite teen classic!
lxlmandalxl30 January 2003
As a teen myself, I think "The Biggest Fan" is a great teen and pre-teen oriented film. I have seen the movie a total of 3 times and counting, and I think it will be a box office hit for teens when it hits theaters. The movie is a classic "dream come true" love story for teens, with a more modern tempo, featuring a popular boy band, Dream Street. Kaila Amariah, the main female character, portrays a devoted fan of Chris Trousdale, the main male character, the best that I have seen in a teen movie! Between the music and the acting, the film is awesome! The funny one liners could even get an adult laughing, while pleasing a younger audience at the same time. The audiences that I have seen this with have responded excitedly, some even memorizing lines (which I may say I'm guilty of!). This film is going to be a favorite for many when seen for the first time in theaters!

Good But Disappointing
SeeNoEvil_March1118 January 2006
The reason why I have headed this rating "Good But Disappointing" is because I felt that ALL the Dream Street members would have actually had some lines in the movie and not just Chris Trousdale.

Chris Trousdale, 17 at the time of the film, is a talented young man with a lot of potential to make it into anything that he puts his mind to. I am huge fan of Dream Street and being from the UK am also one of few who have actually heard of Dream Street.

Each character, in my opinion, played completely different roles, all of which were played very well, especially Chris's and Kayla's. I must say that I most enjoyed the two cops who were very amusing and also the kid who played Garfield was also a joy to watch.

Overall, I felt that is was a great film with a little more work to be done on the story line.

Thanks for reading.

Biggest Fan is Amazing
ke_rose-116 April 2006
This movie has to be one of the best I've seen! With Chris Trousdale and the whole Dream Street being great actors but also Kaila was amazing. My favourite part was all of it of course but especially when they sang 'With all my heart' I'm not 1 for the romantic stuff but this film melted my heart. I would 100% get this film. The title sums up the film up the bonus of this film all of the lads are pretty fit he-he. The plot of the film is amazing you can follow it even if you have just turned it on. I cant wait for it to be on t.v again. Words really can't describe how i feel about this film i truly thought it was amazing. When you do watch it make sure you have a tissue for the end of the film because you will need one. xxx

A young girl falls in love with Chris Trousdale of the wonderful and highly popular boy band Dream Street.
horsegal318045 February 2005
At first, I thought dream street was just another one of those no talented boy bands, like N*sync and Backstreet boys, but, was I wrong! The biggest fan is the best movie I have ever seen! It is full of wonderful actors and singers! Not to mention dancers, although, the girl who plays Debbie is so horrible! Her nose practically takes up the whole screen, and that zit..! (whoa baby!) OK, I thought that monster was going to pop at any minute! Not to mention her voice is so annoying! My eyes started burning every time she came on screen! She almost ruined the best movie ever! But luckily, i lived through it, and am now here to tell you what an awesome movie it is! BUY MANY COPIES AND GIVE THEM TO ALL YOUR FRIENDS!

Very good film for young teens, especially girls into "boy bands."
emandel-127 June 2002
I saw this film, "The Biggest Fan" twice, once in Cannes and once in L.A. Both were "Sneak Peaks" before the film is to be released to the public, so some changes will still be made. It is already a very good family film, with its main audience being young teen and preteen girls, especially those into "boy bands." The first audience I watched it with was all adults and the second in L.A. was predominantly teens. The second screening had strong audible reactions from the mostly young female audience. The actress playing the female lead was excellent and the male lead, a member of the boy band "Dream Street" also gave a great performance. In the supporting cast there were a lot of familiar faces from many feature films and TV series. I am very interested to see how this film is received once it hits the theaters.

AWESOME!!
Trooziebaby114 June 2004
I thought the movie was absolutely amazing. Chris is such a great actor, and Kaila did great as well! The plot was so good! I definitely think that everyone should see this movie. Two thumbs up! I can't believe this was Kaila's first acting job! She was so professional. I like the fact that all of the Dream Street members made cameos in the movie. I love the part when the guys all sang "With All My Heart". I absolutely love that song, and it fit the movie so well. I went and saw the movie with my sister and a few friends, and we all thought that the movie was so great. I think that the plot of the movie is so easy to relate to. It makes the movie more believable in my opinion. Altogether great movie!

young girl in love with a singer and falls in love with him! everyone ARRRRR!
playboybun117 November 2005
I first heard about it when i found out about Jesse McCartney and that he was in a band called dream street. I came on here to find stuff out about each of them and i saw the title "the biggest fan". I clicked on it and found useful comments about it and i knew i had to watch it. about 3 weeks ago or so it was advertise on Nickalodeon. I knew i had to watch it no matter what! I had to wake up early and set the tape up to tape it. After the movie was over, all the things i done before it, getting up early and stuff, i didn't regret it as it was great! Its the perfect teen romance comedy. If you are a romantic fool or love a laugh or just think Chris Trousdale is hot, then this film is for you!

Very popular with teenage girls
vox-8881 February 2004
Like "Hard Days' Night" and the Elvis Presley movies, at the screenings at the AMC Westwood in Los Angeles, CA and the Beacon Theater in Manhattan, NY, hundreds of young, female fans screamed end-to-end. They love the kids, they loved the band, and they loved the music. The teen magazines gave it "top 5" status in every category, and they called Kaila and Chris the #7 "cutest couple of all time." The film should be in theaters this summer.

Hi this is Angela Martin
angelinamaria-2462520 June 2020
I love this movie so much especially Chris Trousdale cause I wish I was Debbie cause I would love to have met Chris and have him fall for me like he did for Debbie and I would have loved for him to take me into his arms and spin me around and kiss me just like he did to Debbie. Kayla who plays Debbie's character was so lucky to have known Chris and get to be in this movie with him cause I would have given anything to have met and known Chris Trousdale and gotten the opportunity to be in this movie with him and play the character of Debbie. I give this movie a thumbs up and 10 stars.

Great.
angel-3204723 June 2016
This is a great movie for the tween ages. I remember growing up with dream street and hearing their songs. I love Chris he is an amazing actor. Kaila has done a great job playing a fan she really embodies them. the story line is fun I mean I as a fan have dreamt of something similar. The way this film is shot it is great. the family dynamic was interesting. I do feel it was a little flat in some areas but that's what you get with a film like this. I feel it is a great movie for how it was done so yes I give it a 10/10. If you haven't then please give this movie a watch. please remember this is my opinion you don't have to share the same views.
