Definitely kills your time
martinr22 January 2002
Saw this at Sundance 2002. I'm a bit puzzled how it even got picked for the festival considering how bad it is. It's about this guy with a really, really bad haircut who shuffles through Manhattan on his way to a job interview. Or something. Along the way, he meets a bunch of really annoying people who endlessly spout their contrived philosophies. Imagine taking a camera and filming a really boring person's really boring day. Then imagine having to sit in a theater for 90 minutes and watch it. That's this film.

Just plain terrible!

Saw this movie a few years ago at Sundance. Wished I could purge the experience from my psyche forever.

If there's one thing this movie proves, it's that the Sundance Festival has nothing to do with independent films. It has to do with insiders (Christine Vachon) getting their product seen rather than more deserving/less connected filmmakers.

I'd attempt a review of this film, but it's such an unmitigated disaster on all levels that anything I say would just sink in the mire of how horrible this thing is.

The fact that it never got distribution is something we can all give thanks for.

Killing Time = Waste of Time
dingle9629 March 2003
This film is easily the worst film I have ever seen. I saw it at Sundance (how it made it in I will never know) and even at a festival where first time filmmakers are cut some slack with their films, Killing Time makes me want to demand my time back it robbed me of. Killing Time is about a kid who walks around New York City meeting new people on the way to a job interview. The problem is all the characters are uninteresting, boring and horribly acted. In fact, even the main character is so lame, you wonder how anyone could have accepted a part like this. While watching Killing Time something went wrong and they had to stop the film to correct it. Half of the audience took advantage of the opportunity and left. Why my friends and I didn't do the same, I don't know. But sitting through this film was one of the most horrible experiences I have ever experienced and I was applauding when the credits rolled because it was finally over.

A True Reality Film
lobianco5 May 2002
  • A very querky film from a first time director. It's the type of film that demands more from the viewer than most are willing to provide. A slow and steady pace offers a compelling story of a young man's struggle to acquire a sense of purpose and reason to his life. While constantly assaulted by the negative and commercial attitudes of his peers. The character of Jack literally moves on - at an unwilling pace through city streets. Confronted with a series of bizarre and some what surreal incidences. Culminating in a realization that is throughly unique and at the same time common to most of us. A story that would perhaps be better told in a novel. While faulted it's only true problem lies in it's hyper real and unslick nature. Its hard to imagine a film like this even getting made but more should.
