Good, but not great
thehardyboyz20437 January 2005
Warning: Spoilers
Possible Spoilers....

Okay, X-8 wasn't was good as X-7, not by a long shot but it was still good, to a point that is. I'll run the matches by one-by-one.

1. Intercontinental Title; William Regal (Champion) vs. Rob Van Dam: This was an all right match, I've always liked Regal's counter wrestling and RVD's style is just well unique, thankfully RVD stopped Regal from using his trademark brass knucks, so the finish of the match was clean. 6/10.

2. European Title; Diamond Dallas Page (Champion) vs. Christian: It was nice to see DDP back on PPV, though it was a fairly short and therefore somewhat boring match. Diamond Cutter finish was nice though. 4/10.

3. Hardcore Title; Maven (Champion) vs. Goldust: There was no reason for this match. Maven was too green, hadn't really proved himself and there were a few missed spots. Thank god it was over quickly, though numerous title changes happened throughout the show, none of which were very interesting. 1/10.

4. Kane vs. Kurt Angle: Good match, plenty of good spots, wished Kane would have won though. Angle cheating at the end sorta tainted the match. 7/10.

5. Ric Flair vs. Undertaker: Best match of the night in my opinion. Both guys put on tremendous performances, and the finish was pretty cool. Actually thought Taker was going to lose when Arn Anderson spinebusted him, but a tombstone later and it's 10-0 for the Dead Man. 10/10.

6. Edge vs. Booker T: Decent match, but it wasn't really necessary to have this far up the card. 6/10.

7. Stone Cold Steve Austin vs. Scott Hall: Good, but very short match. The finish was good as well, Austing stunning both Hall and Nash was nice. 6/10.

8. Four Team Elimination Match, Tag Team Titles; Billy & Chuck (Champions) vs. The Hardy Boyz vs. The APA vs. The Dudley Boyz: An all right match, Hardy's (my fav. team) got in some nice double team offense as did the Dudley's, but this one didn't seem to have a lot of energy throughout. 5/10.

9. The Rock vs. Hollywood Hulk Hogan: All the hype, all the excitement built towards this, surprisingly okay match. It was great to hear the crowd cheer Hogan and boo the crap out of The Rock, but the match was really just a fluff piece, okay for the first few minutes and okay again at the end, but besides the crowd's energy, it wasn't all they made it out to be. 6/10.

10. Triple-Threat Match, Women's Championship; Jazz (Champion) vs. Trish Stratus vs. Lita: Another decent match, with the right person winning, though I would've liked to have seen Lita (my fav. diva) win. 5/10.

11. Undisputed Championship; Chris Jericho (Champion) w/Stephanie McMahon vs. Triple H: One of the dullest matches on the card, and easily the dullest main event ever. Everyone dead and alive knew that Triple H was going to win and it was nice to see him Pedigree Stephanie, but boy did this match suck. 3/10.

It was overall a good show, but it wasn't there best and like another reviewer said began the decline in the WWF (now E) quality.

WWE Wrestlemania X-8 2002
wrestlingsitewebmaster18 September 2005
This is a very difficult WM to write about, partly because it's in the between an excellent PPV and a crap PPV category. Some matches were ace, some weren't.

Results from Wrestlemania X-8 are as follows: - Rob Van Dam defeated William Regal to win the Intercontinental Championship in a solid opener.

  • Diamond Dallas Page defeated Christian in a useless match.

  • Spike Dudley defeated Goldust to win the Hardcore title (this match was Maven and Goldust, but Dudley ran down and pinned Goldust) - Edge pinned Booker T in a worthless match.

  • 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin pinned Scott hall in a rotten match (this showed when Austin walked out of the Federation for real shortly afterwards)

  • Kurt Angle defeated Kane in a good match.

  • The Hurricane defeated Spike Dudley to win the Hardcore title (backstage)

  • The Undertaker pinned Ric Flair in a fair match.

  • Mighty Molly pinned The Hurricane to win the Hardcore title (backstage) - The Rock defeated Hollywood Hogan in a very good match. The fans in this match were simply mad! They cheered Hogan instead of The Rock.

  • Christian pinned Mighty Molly to win the Hardcore title (backstage when Christian slammed a door in Molly's face)

  • Billy and Chuck defeated The APA, The Hardy Boyz and The Dudley Boyz in a four corners match to retain the WWE tag team belts.

  • Maven pinned Christian to win back the Hardcore title (in the car parking lot when Christian was day dreaming, Maven snuck up behind him and pinned him)

  • Jazz defeated Lita and Trish Stratus to retain the WWE Women's Championship.

  • The Rock pinned Hulk Hogan. The fans were really into this match. However fans booed Rock and cheered Hogan.

  • Triple H defeated Chris Jericho to win the Undisputed Championship. However fans were not that interested in this match and when Tripper won no one cared.

Overall Grade - B

Look, I was there, and it was a lot better than on the TV..
mro953936710 August 2002
Those of you that stated the event was average, yes in context, for the companies showcase event, it was. The LAW(Toronto wrestling radio show, EXCELLENT!) slagged it off too, but to actually be there was awesome!

I defy anyone watching on TV to get into context the message JR and The King Jerry Lawler were trying to convey. The crowd hated The Rock that night, because the HULKSTER was back!

His first PPV match in 9odd years (forget the previous months cameo appearance), and the noise was deafening. Jr tried to cover the Rocky booes saying it was a bypartisan crowd, but JR had to tell him to realise that this was history right there. And it was. On a usual day I'm a Rock fan, but EVERYONE hated him night, and he won in spirit if not in actuality.

Those of you who didn't attend or watch live will never hear those boo's again as the WWF(now E) doctored the footage on the released video and DVD releases of WMX8 to tone down the boos and 'Rocky sucks' chants.

The rest of the PPV was average, but an average Wrestlemania still blows any other federations product right out of the water.

And now, in August 2002, theres been a heluva lot more crap fly out of the WWE creative machine since WMX8 so lets not slag this off too much, hey.

no class,no interest,no good
Silverzero7 July 2002
Warning: Spoilers
***SPOILERS*** ***SPOILERS*** what did i think of wrestlemania x-8. hmmmm let me see, i know, it was a joke. the show started with saliva playing "superstar". ok its a good song but, hello, shouldnt wrestlemanias begin with the national anthem. absolutely no class. the titantron was a metal mesh which vaguely formed an x-8.pathetic. the first match was a snorathon between rvd and william regal for the i.c. title. it went on for 10 long, grueling minutes. rvd won but it was still a bad match. ddp versus christian for the european title followed next, an unusually normal match for wrestlemania.BBBOOORRRRIINNGGGG.goldust faced maven for the hardcore title next. the title changed back and forth in the usual frenzy throughout the show. good but not amazing. the undertaker, ric flair match, although long turned out to be good. kurt angle beat kane in the next match. cant referees do their f***ing job properly. angle got away with it yet again. austin, hall womens title, tag title and the edge ,booker t match all followed, each as boring on as the next. the best match of the evening was the rock, hogan match. its a shame hogan didnt win but it was still good. j.r. claimed that the fans were impartial. he sure didnt here the rocky sucks chants.the main event was long, boring and predictable and was in no way worthy of being the main event. overall the match quality was too little too much.far too wide of the mark.

I think this was great event. Dot.
amanwhorocks14 May 2016
Warning: Spoilers
1. WWF Intercontinental Championship: RVD Vs. Champ-William Regal - Awesome tough match, RVd took so much bumps and won the title. Regal put solid moves too. I'm satisfied. 10/10

2. WWF European Championship: Christian Vs. Champ-DDP - Another HQ match. DDP at Wrestlemania was great, quick exciting match, and DDP retained, that surprised me, really. I thought after Christian's finisher it was over. 9.5/10

Oh no, fall down, Goldust on Wrestlemania.

3. Hardcore Championship: Goldust Vs. Champ-Maven - Average and very short thing that ended with Spike Dudley's interference and winning the title. Lol. 6/10

4. Kurt Angle Vs. Kane - Angle won by the Pin with his foot on the ropes. 6.5/10

5. No DQ: Ric Flair Vs. The Undertaker - Flair put better show in his years than Taker. Taker won, of course. 6.5/10

6. Booker T. Vs. Edge - Nice quick match, one screwed Hurricanrana. But nice changing of moves. Edge won by Implant DDT. 8.5/10

7. Stone Cold Vs. Scott Hall - Nice ending in the match. Hall nicely sold the Stunner. 7/10

8. 4 Corner Tag Team Elimination Championship: Dudley Boyz Vs. A.P.A. Vs Hardy Boyz Vs. Champs-Billy&Chuck - Champs retained, though they didn't do anything special in the ring - worst team got push. 7/10

9. Hollywood Hulk Hogan Vs. The Rock - This was the first match ever that I really wish that Rock will win. And it seemed he will do a job. But he won in a great and clean way! Hogan made a clean job. That REALLY surprised me. I have to give a high rating , though the match was technically poor it was really exciting and great with right ending. Rock was hated there... 10/10

10. WWF Women's Triple Threat Championship: Champ-Jazz Vs. Lita Vs. Trish Stratus - Jazz retained! That hot super machine deserved it most and I again didn't expect, that they put over heel. Great, this wrestlemania is breathtaking! 9/10

11. WWF World Heavyweight Title Match: Champ-Y2J Vs. HHH - Too bad, that Y2J was heel this time, they met. HHH - undisputed champion, hm OK. But It wasn't breath-taking, like the rest of that event. And it definitely didn't beat other main events of Wrestlemania. Fans wasn't into it much too. 7.5/10

Warning: Spoilers
This was a pretty entertaining WrestleMania. Heres a list of the match results and my comments.

2. Eurpean Championship:

Diamond Dallas Page Def. Christian, To Retain. not a bad match overall. Christian takes a funny fit after the match. 7/10

3. Hardcore Championship:

Spike Dudley, Hurricane, Mighty Molly, Maven and lastly Christian all scored pin falls to become Hardcore Champion during the night. Pretty good stuff. 7.5/10

4. Kurt Angle Def. Kane, good match. not much to say about it. 7.5/10

5. Undertaker Def. Ric Flair, Pretty boring match, but not horrible. 6.5/10

6. Edge Def. Booker T, in a pretty good match, but not the match of the night. 8/10

8. Fatal Four Way Elimination Match for World Tag Team Championship Billy & Chuck def. The Hardy Boyz, the APA and the Dudleys. Good match, pretty entertaining stuff. 7.5/10

9. Icon vs. Icon Match The Rock def. Hollywood Hogan , slow match. but not bad. memorable though. I'll never forget it. 7/10

17, 18, 19 were the best
ThunderKing618 September 2020
Especially 18, It was one of the best shows of all time.

Too bad wwe doesn't want to have good shows like this. They are too busy pandering for celebrities, India, arab and China to give a damn about quality.

When you pander to various countries you have to change what is good. what's good for 1 isn;t good for the other.

Anyways...All the matches were awesome. Only thing I hated is how they treated nwo. Wasted an iconic stable for what?

Verdict: enjoy 17, 18 and 19. some of the early 20s were good-ok too. After that. Stop watching Dubya Dubya E

Entertaining Wrestlemania
gridoon202416 February 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Immediately following what is considered by many to be not just the greatest Wrestlemania but possibly the greatest single PPV ever (X-Seven), X8 does not have an equal reputation. And you can sort of see why: there is nothing bad here, nothing embarrassing, but with the exception of one match there is not much that stands out, either (unless you want to count stuff like Edge doing a spin-a-roonie or the hardcore title changing hands five times in the course of the night). The one match is, of course, the mythical encounter of Hulk Hogan and The Rock; this match has little to do with wrestling per se, but lots to do with sports entertainment and audience involvement/interaction. In fact, it's one of those rare cases where things don't go as planned, with the Toronto crowd spontaneously taking an overwhelmingly loud pro-Hogan stance that probably shocked The Rock, but which he incorporates into his performance. This explosive, exhilarating match is a reminder that the crowd reaction to a match is sometimes just as, if not more, important as the ring action itself.

The best Pay-Per-view
Spawn Devil20 April 2002
Hey, just would like to say that this was an awsome pay-per-view. My top 4 favorite matches for this Wrestlemania is:

4. Rob Van Dam vs William Regal because I'm a big fan of RVD, so since he won the match, its number 4

3. Ric Flair vs The Undertaker because Ric Flair just sux and the Undertaker Rules!!

2. Triple H vs Chris Jericho because Triple H won the Undisputed Championship, and Triple H got to pedigree that slut Stephanie.

1. Of course my most favorite match is Hulk Hogan vs The Rock because all threw the match I wanted The Rock to win but everyone in the skydome was yelling "Hogan","Hogan","Hogan" and saying "Rocky Sux Rocky Sux". But after the Rock won, I felt sorry for Hulk Hogan because he looked really bad and pritty much got his ass kicked by the people champion.

Overall Mark for Wrestlemania x8 = A-

Remembered Only Because Hogan vs The Rock
Destiny-1-12-1524 January 2024
Wrestlemania 18 is one of the most overrated Wrestlemania's ever! It was a good show! But not a great show! Hogan vs The Rock truly outshined the whole match card of the night! As it should've been the main event of Wrestlemania 18! Steve Austin was even screwed with a match against Scott Hall. The match card for this event was far from stellar. Instead it was just above average. Chris Jericho vs HHH was one of the worst main events ever in Wrestlemania history! HHH is far too overrated and is not a great Wrestlemania main eventer! He is just an overhyped Test! Ric Flar vs Undertaker was a good match. As for the rest of the card, who even remembers the card? It's forgettable! When looking back at this event. The only thing that is remembered is how Hogan vs The Rock had one of the most thunderous ovations of a crowd ever for a match! Which really helped build this match in being one of the biggest matches ever!

Rock/Hogan Pulls This One Up To Memorable Status
zkonedog1 March 2022
The first half of the Wrestlemania 18 card is pretty average (at best). There was William Regal in a championship match (yikes), guys like DDP & Goldust trying to recapture old glories, and a few confrontations--Angle/Kane, American BA Undertaker/Flair, Edge/Booker T--that are fine (though little more).

But then, the good stuff kicks into high gear...

-Stone Cold vs. Scott Hall (w/Kevin Nash) is actually a great match, albeit a rather short one due to Austin's physical limitations at that time. But for what is there, it is extremely entertaining and Mania-worthy.

-NWO Hollywood Hogan vs. The Rock is one of the top matches in WWE history. Again, a bit on the short side due to Hogan's age, assuredly, but the energy is almost unmatched even by Mania standards. Only Hulk/Andre & Hulk/Warrior eclipse it. This should have been the finale of the PPV, even without a strap on the line. It alone raises this card a full star (if not two).

-Despite a bit of a come-down from Rock/Hogan, the HHH/Jericho finale is pretty good. I've never been a huge Triple-H guy and I can't quite understand Y2J's appeal, but for those who enjoy both those guys it is a solid match.

From stem to stern, I'll give this uneven card a 7/10 ranking. But in reality, that doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things. All anyone will remember WM18 for is the Rock/Hogan match for the ages.

There Have Been Better Ones
BigSmoke641 June 2005
Warning: Spoilers
This one was very very average. There have been better but then again there have been worse. Here is a match by match breakdown. Match One: Rob Van Dam def. William Regal: I sorta wanted Regal to win this one being English and all but I wasn't disapponited by the match. 7/10 Match Two: DDP vs. Christian: And the point was? This was a crap match. With no story telling from anyone. NEXT! 2/10 Match Three: Spike Dudley def. Maven: This was one of about 10 hardcore matches. Let me put it bluntley this night a woman won the belt and about 6 people had there turn. Yet Maven still walked out of Wrestlemania X-8 champ. 4/10 Match Four: Kurt Angle def. Kane: Despite many matches between the two this one is overlooked. They both put on a vailent effort. 7/10 Match Five: Undertaker def. Ric Flair: 2 legends going at it, should've been good but it was average. I'm a big UT fan and I am angry he didn't put up a good fight here. This was Flairs first WM appearance in 10 years as well. 5/10 Match Six: Edge def. Booker T: See 2, ponitless Edge is capable of so much more. Good fighters but no story lines. 2/10 Match Seven: Stone Cold def. Scott Hall: I would have expected better. Between them these two have had many great matches but this does not rank with the top ones. 2.5/10 Match Eight: Billy & Chuck def. APA, The Hardy Boyz and The Dudley Boys: Billy and Chuck were a horrible Tag team. Every other tag team in this match are great but they didn't get another chance at Tag Team Glory. Oh well NEXT! 4/10 Match Nine: The Rock def. Hollywood Hogan: This was the most anticpated match in WM history. I liked it and Hogan is back after 9 years! But now he's gone AGAIN. 8/10 Match Ten: Jazz def. Lita and Trish: Now the Womens division has lost a lot of credabilty laterly because the only good wrestlers are Trish, Lita and maybe Victoria, Stacy and Torrie. Why did the WWE release Jazz or put her in mid-card just so someone like Christie can get her job. Good match though. 7/10 Match Eleven: Triple H def. Chris Jericho: Bad, bad title match. HHH's efforts at WM are fallling I think. Compare his match at WM 12 to his match at WM18 and the one at WM19. But WM20 and WM21 were good efforts, however this one one of his bad ones. 3/10 Overall a very average Mania it was like a Survivor Series. Avoid it if you can because there are better ones like WM17 but there have been worse.

its not bad
steph_hhh8310 January 2003
It wasn't that bad, nice to see old people back in the WWE-then WWF. Even though Kevin Nash keeps getting injured. Scott Hall is gone already in May 2002. Hulk is out right now. Over all the Rock-Hogan match was good. I would give the ppv 8/10

The WrestleMania where the Icon faces the Icon!!!
morantjavonte10 July 2020
Warning: Spoilers
WrestleMania 18 was the 18th annual WrestleMania taking place on March 17, 2002 at the SkyDome in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Attendence was a record of 68,237 which is still the top number today. The event was dubbed the "Icon vs. Icon" as the biggest Babyface in pro wrestling history, Hulk Hogan made his return to the company but as the big heel he made himself in WCW as "Hollywood Hulk Hogan". He was in a feud with The Rock, who along with Stone Cold, was the top face of the company for the past couple of years. This was probably the most exciting match of the event. The WWE Championship was also on the line with Chris Jericho defending against the Royal Rumble winner Triple H. Triple H just returned in the beginning of the year after recovering from Knee surgery from an injury he suffered the previous year). The storyline was made into a revenge angle as Chris Jericho was the one involved in the match Triple H injured his knee in. Stephanie McMahon was involved in it as it would also feature her in a love triangle. Other notable matches were Undertaker vs. Ric Flair and Stone Cold vs. Scott Hall. This would also be last WM PPV under the WWF banner.

The Good - Hulk Hogan vs. The Rock was filled with electricity. The crowd was sooo hype, that Rock & Hogan temporarily broke Kayfabe by looking at how loud they were. It was also a shocking as the Canadian crowd were sooo over Hogan even though he was still the N.W.O heel with Rock being the Face that was booed. The match itself was great and definitely I would say was the match of the night. Definitely not a five star but still a damn good one. The brawl between Undertaker and Ric Flair was brutal. Lots of moments and beatings both men sold perfectly. I also thought Toronto was an amazing crowd. For some reason I always love Canada crowds. In addition Kane vs. Kurt Angle was a good match as well.

The Meh - Well, Chris Jericho vs. Triple H wasn't a disaster or bad at all, it wasn't the right choice for Main Event. Clearly it was obvious the crowd couldn't be loud and were draining as they only were awake for big moments and the victory of the champ. I honestly agree with Jericho that Rock & Hogan should have been the ending as Jericho & HHH could have felt much better involving the crowd as they play a big factor. The match itself was alright. While Stone Cold vs. Scott Hall wasn't a bad match, it was definitely a big slap in the face for Austin who almost walked out of the company by this time. Austin was shoved down to the midcard much to the disappointing last 2 years for Austin who was having problems backstage as well as personal issues.

The Bad - The Hardcore Championship match was a dull and the Hardcore comedy segments were a waste of time as by this point in time, they were old and repetitive. Not so funny anymore. The triple threat women's match which was a bathroom break was a disgrace to the women's division. But hey it was only the beginning as WWE would continue to use this women's division like this for the next decade.

Overall - A good show. WWF was also coming in a WrestleMania with a stack roster which involved the brand split coming soon so it's also cool to see how they managed to book for this event even with a lot of employees. The best Match obviously is the big reason to rewatch this show but other matches on the show were good enough to rewatch some time again.

0 = Terrible: 1 = Bad/Lackluster: 2 = Decent: 3 = Good: 4 = Awesome: 5 = One of the Best of all Time

Good Wrestlemania, but could of been way better
kliko40018 January 2007
Warning: Spoilers
This was a good Wrestlemania {As usual as all Wrestlemania's are fantastic}. But if most of the matches took a bit longer it would of been a great Wrestlemania.

FIRST MATCH- ROB VAN DAM VS. WILLIAM REGAL FOR THE WWF INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPIONSHIP Cool way to start off Wrestlemania with the IC title on the line. The match was okay but if it was a bit more longer it would of been a very good match. Regal tries to use the brass knuckles during the match but fails as RVD nails the Five Star Frog Splash on him for the win to become the new WWF Intercontinental Champion. 4/10

SECOND MATCH- DIAMOND DALLAS PAGE VS. Christian FOR THE WWF European CHAMPIONSHIP Too short, this match should take a bit more longer. DDP wins after using his special called a Diamond Cutter on Christian for the win to retain his WWF European Championship. 3/10

THIRD MATCH- GOLDUST VS. MAVEN IN A HARDCORE MATCH FOR THE HARDCORE CHAMPIONSHIP Should of included more weapons & more time in the match. While Goldust is outside, Spike Dudley runs in the ring & pins Maven to become the new WWF Hardcore Champion. After the match, backstage a list of superstars {Including Christian, Al Snow, Molly Holly, Hurricane & much more try to pin each other backstage in order to win the Hardcore title belt which can be won by pinning the Hardcore Champion any time backstage}. 3/10

FOURTH MATCH- KURT ANGLE VS. KANE Could of been longer. Still it was an okay match, Angle wins after a roll-up on Kane using the ropes to get the cheat win. 2/10

FIFTH MATCH- EDGE VS. BOOKER T Again, sorry for being a little annoying with the same comments over & over again, but it was still short, to me this match was more like a squash. Edge actually does the spinaroonie during the match, then nails the Edgeocution on Booker T for the win in his hometown. 2/10

SIXTH MATCH- UNDERTAKER VS. RIC FLAIR IN A NO DISQUALIFICATION MATCH This was also a good match,Flair was busted open during this match at the hands of Undertaker. Flair locks in the Figure 4 Leg Lock, but Undertaker grabs Flair's throat, escapes out of the Figure 4 Leg Lock & nails the Chokeslam for the win here against Ric Flair in this no disqualification match. 4/10

SEVENTH MATCH- STONE COLD STEVE AUSTIN VS. SCOTT HALL W/ KEVIN NASH This was a good match, it was very good. Kevin Nash tries to interfere knocking the referee out. But Steve Austin takes care of the business knocking Nash out & nailing the Stunner on Scott Hall for the win. 5/10

EIGHT MATCH- JAZZ VS. LITA VS. TRISH STRATUS IN A TRIPLE-THREAT MATCH FOR THE WWF WOMEN'S CHAMPIONSHIP Not that much of a triple-threat match, it was alright, but the match was a bit slow & sloppy at times. Jazz wins the triple-threat match to retain her WWE Women's title. 3/10

NINTH MATCH- ROCK VS. Hollywood HULK HOGAN This is the most anticipated, the most talked about match in the history & it is finally here at Wrestlemania. You can feel the electricity in the arena & the fans reaction very well. Not really a bad match, but it was slow & to everyone's & including my shock, all the fans were chanting for Hulk Hogan & booing the Rock. Rock still was able to ignore the fans & nail a Rock Bottom, followed by a People's Elbow on Hulk Hogan for the win. After the match Rock & Hulk Hogan shake their hands in respect towards each other, then while Rock leaves, the NWO {New World Order} attack Hulk Hogan resulting Rock to come in & clean house taking Kevin Nash & Scott Hall out of the ring. Rock then helps Hogan to the back as this is definitely a memorable moment at Wrestlemania which will not be forgotten for a long, long time to come. 5/10

TENTH MATCH- BILLY & CHUCK VS. APA VS. HARDY BOYS VS. DUDLEY BOYS W/ STACY KEIBLER IN A FATAL 4 WAY ELIMINATION TAG TEAM MATCH FOR THE WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP Great double-team moves from all 4 teams. First Dudley Boys are eliminated after getting pinned by APA. Then APA is eliminated after Hardy Boys. Then Hardy Boys are eliminated after getting whacked by the World Tag Team belts by Billy & Chuck behind the referee to get the win & to retain their World Tag Team title belts. 5/10

ELEVENTH MATCH- TRIPLE H VS. CHRIS JERICHO W/ STEPHANIE MCMAHON FOR THE WWF UNDISPUTED CHAMPIONSHIP An acceptable mainevent for Wrestlemania. The best highlight of the match is when HHH actually Pedigreed {now which is his wife} Stephanie McMahon. HHH turns around as Jericho goes for HHH's own Pedigree but HHH backdrops Jericho & nails his own Pedigree to get the win as HHH has came back from injury & defeated Jericho here at the mainevent of Wrestlemania to become the new WWF Undisputed Champion. 5/10

This was a good Wrestlemania, but most of the matches didn't take long & most of the matches on the card could of happened on Raw or Smackdown, but anyways it was still a very good Wrestlemania with the Rock-Hogan match, this Wrestlemania will not be forgotten. Also HHH Pedigreeing Stephanie, that is also a Wrestlemania moment as well.

Overall: I'll give it 7/10 & a C+

Significant for all the wrong reasons
pat_barker14 May 2002
When I first saw WrestleMania X-8, I thought that it marked the culmination of the WWF's nosedive. I was wrong, apparently, because the plummet continues with force. After doing the previous year's WrestleMania so perfectly and giving the fans one exciting match after another (from Angle/Benoit to TLC to Vince/Shane to Rock/Austin), the WWF did everything wrong. They blew the WCW invasion (more than once) and then screwed up the nWo as well, wasting millions of dollars. This show has very little in the way of excitement, especially in comparison to X-7. The main event, while technically sound, played to the least lively crowd since JFK's funeral. The crowd had been drained from doing the unthinkable and taking the God-awful Hulk Hogan and his horrid offense (punch, backrake, big boot, legdrop) and making the WWF think that this clown should be the top guy again. Never underestimate the power of 60,000 braindead Canadians. Ironically enough, the Rock/Hogan match is the bright spot depite being so technically awful. If you either love or hate Hogan, then seeing The Rock pin him is quite the moment. The undercard is mediocre at best, with a whole bunch of average matches. Instead of being the end of the WWF's tailspin, this show started an even sharper dive into the ground. No need to pick this up unless you're a WWF completist.

Hmmmmm its ok
jimmycool2001200028 May 2002
It's ok but as another guy's review said it is just to average for a wrestlemania. The only violent match was undertaker v flair which was good but wmania needs something more. I was sad not to see the wwf use athletes like Christain, Edge and Angle in more innovative matches, all these guys have proved that they can entertain in high risk matchs and it was a shame not to see them show case their talent. I was only excited by two matches on the card; Undertake v Flair and Hogan v The Rock. I was hyped by the flair/taker match only at the end when arn anderson got involved and i thought for a moment that taker might of lost, so hats off to the wwf that match was good. Hogan v The Rock, for me, was amazing, i love hogan and i was really wanting him to win. I think it was the right move to make The Rock won because he is a better athlete, but Hogan had a great performance and really he made this wmania worth watching. The wwf really needs to do better than this in future, the main event was just plain bad.

Nothing spectacular, but decent

Rock/Hogan, Rock/Hogan, Rock/Hogan??

Im sorry but this match was not the match that everyone makes it out to be. However, the rest of the card was decent with the sole exception being the upper card placement of the Womens Title Match. Triple H and Jericho never disappoint and this match was a good match. But Rock/Hogan was nothing to get excited about. The WWE has put on better (X-7) but this was a decent effort.

my 1st wrestlemanai attended!! (spoiler)

Warning: Spoilers
it was great being at a wrestlemania but this wasn't even close to being the best one ever. RVD-Regal wasn't a good match because of their styles and everyone knew RVD was going over anyway. DDP against Christian was average. Maven blew his spots and at least the Hardcore vignettes were funny. Kane and Angle had a chance to be the best match but they blew the finish! Undertaker and Ric Flair put on a hell of a match, I think it exceeded everyone's expectations. And Arn Anderson giving Taker a spinebuster was one of the best moments of the night. Edge-Booker could have been so much better than it was. It was so disappointing to see Scott Hall get squashed by Austin. The tag match was good because they got The APA out right away and the right team went over in the end. Hogan and Rock was the match of the night, it was unbelievable being in the building and hearing the response for Hogan. And again, the right man went over and Hogan should be congratulated for his performance. The woman's match was forgettable, but at least Jazz won. HHH-Jericho shouldn't have been the main event it wasn't even that good and everyone knew HHH was going over. The worst thing about the night was those talentless bums that were screaming into a microphone all night, they call that music. It drove me insane, please WWF give up these trailer park trash rock groups they just annoy everyone.

This Wrestlemania would rank very low on my list of Wrestlemanias. The Rock vs Hulk Hogan was not very good at all, Stone Cold vs Scott Hall was slow, RVD vs William Regal was probably the best wrestled match of the night, DDP vs Christian was not worth watching, Jazz vs Lita vs Trish Stratus ended WAY TOO FAST, Triple H vs Chris Jericho was decent (although not for a main event at Wrestlemania), The Hardcore title changing hands several times sucked (except when The Hurricane was peeping at The Godfather's Hoes), The Billy/Chuck, Dudley Boyz, Hardyz, APA match should not have ended the way it did, Kurt Angle vs Kane was ok, Edge vs Booker T was fine, Undertaker vs Ric Flair was not too shabby, but overall i give this a 7/10

Hulkamania Reborn!
Big Movie Fan17 August 2002
Warning: Spoilers
(POSSIBLE SPOILERS)

WrestleMania X-8 was absolutely brilliant playing to an arena of 60,000 plus Canadian fans.

The crowd were wild for this card. They let the wrestlers know their feelings throughout the event which is what all good wrestling fans should do. There was a tremendous atmosphere as well and as usual, Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler did a fantastic job.

WrestleMania X-8 was not without it's flaws but they were very small flaws. The match between Steve Austin and Scott Hall was far to short which meant no momentum could be built. And the same could be said for DDP VS Christian.

My favourite matches were Hollywood Hogan VS The Rock, Chris Jericho VS Triple H and the Undertaker VS Ric Flair. I also enjoyed the shenanigans regarding the hardcore title although it was quite hard seeing the beautiful Molly Holly get knocked out by that fiend Christian.

The Undertaker and Ric Flair had a wild brawl. These two men had matches back in 1993 but back then The Undertaker had a different style. This match was awesome. I also found Jerry Lawler's announcing quite amusing during this match. Jerry is so biased and I love it. He began to chuckle when the Undertaker put a chokehold on Flair and throughout the event Ross and Lawler debated various things. It reminded me of the chemistry between the late Gorilla Monsoon and Bobby "The Brain" Heenan or Jesse Ventura and Vince McMahon.

The main event between Jericho and Triple H was awesome in my opinion. However, once again it was devastating to see a beautiful female like Stephanie McMahon Helmsley getting hurt.

There were other good matches too such as Kane VS Kurt Angle and Booker T VS Edge.

What can I say about the match between The Rock and Hollywood Hogan? This had been a dream match of mine for years so just seeing these two men in the ring was enough for me. And the crowd were brilliant. They reminded me of the crowd for the Hogan/Andre match from WrestleMania III. Before the Rock and Hogan had even locked up the fans were cheering loudly. They cheered throughout the match for both the Rock and Hogan. And Hogan and Rock had a decent match. It was also great to see the Rock and Hogan showing each other mutual respect at the end. Then, they both battered the NWO which consisted of Scott Hall and Kevin Nash. Again, the crowd cheered them.

After this event ended I thought perhaps it had been a mistake having Hogan leave the NWO so soon but as a fan of 1980's Hulkamania, I was pleased to see the return of the good Hulk Hogan.

All in all, a great night of action and probably the best WrestleMania since WrestleMania XIII in 1997.
