A very fun animation, which cleverly satirizes some of the worst aspects from "nerd culture", without sugarcoating them in any way or form.
Shame it wasn't turned into a full series. While Evan Dorkin hasn't given any official reason of why the pilot wasn't pitched by Cartoon Network, I assume it was probably due budget reasons, since most of the Adult Swim shows from the same era (Such as Aqua Teen Hunger Force) were much cheaper to produce.
In addition to that, the whole "nerd culture parody" was perhaps way too ahead of its time, before geek hobbies went mainstream thanks the increasing popularity of superhero movies.
I have to wonder if, had been turned into a series, if the show would have followed the same path the comic did (Which gets quite bitter on its dark comedy) or if the writers would have tried to make the four leads into more "likeable" characters.
We will never know.
