A wild and crazy shock to the senses, "Strange Resides" marks as one of Alex Proyas first films and this way before his style impress higher audiences in films such as "The
Crow" and "Dark City". And this one proves that he was already a master storyteller with a great visual and effects to show.
Here's a mindblowing experience of a young man (Colin Freganza) who after a record album starts to believe he can contact extraterrestrial forms and even manages to transport to different scenarios and situations. There are so many things going, visually and sonorous (it barely contains dialogue except for a very cool host played by Donald McDonald) that just saying anything about the movie would not good enough to convince you to watch it or it could never justify its unique experience of feelings and sensations.
All I can was that it was a very crazed experiences, nothing is predictable and it's something going between humor, sci-fi and horror, and it all works with great in all those genres. And it also has that kind of mystery aspect where you actually believe something like could happen: just hearing some unusual music and unusual sounds you could taken to a new level of conciousness and some sort of hallucination of sorts.
It was brilliant in all levels, and I can't wait to see it sometime soon. Mr. Proyas, well-done. 10/10.
