Bruno Nuyten is a rare director. His first movie, "camille claudel" (with isabelle Adjani & gérard Depardieu) has been quite a big hit in France, I must say I didn't like it : seeing Adjani constantly shouting "I'm not mad"... boring. I didn't see his two other movies. "Jim, la nuit" has nothing to do with Camille Claudel, it's much more delicate. The plot is very interesting : an african little girl whose village died in a war maybe (Rwanda ?) is raised in France by a couple of teachers. They are beloving, and she is nice, good at school, clever,... But there is a shadow over her, this violent past, the memory of her grand father... She stops eating and she doesn't think anybody could help her except... Björk Gudmunsdottir, yeah, the singer Björk : Geraldine (Jim) the african thinks that the icelandic queen of the polar bears may help her, and let her bears eat her. Starts a journey to iceland with some weird encounters. A very nice movie.
