A peculiar tribute to motherhood
Rodrigo_Amaro24 February 2023
A doll-like figure named Freida recollects several childhood memories about her mother and dedicates a tribute to her. "The Mother Show" makes a curious and amusing tribute to all mothers in the world, here reflected through an adult's perspective remembering how special her mother was in her life.

At first we hear the child asking countless questions ranging from innocent questions such as "can I play outside?" to more "tough" questions when she discovers boys and becomes fascinated by them. We never hear the mother answering the questions and the little girl is a non-stop machine of questions like children usually are. And the second part comes a tribute, that despite being heard as a child talking, it could only come from a more matured person when she uses the letters that form "mother" to indicate important parts of a woman (she pays a tribute by analyzing the woman's biology which allowed her to live, breath and grow).

Quite unusual but very well-made with a certain sense of humor; and I'm trying to figure out how Freida is composed (is it really a doll? Is there someone disguised as a doll? There are so many editing tricks in between shots and certain movements that makes a little difficult to figure out. But I think in the long distance shots there is some actor walking around the scenery). 6/10.
