A Great Short Worth Seeking Out
adamc-1323 August 2005
I saw this short and I thought it was laugh-out-loud funny... literate without a hint of pretension, great visual wit and pitch perfect casting. The two leads are consummate pros with great timing. I have to say, it's really refreshing to see this level of acting in a short. Add to that a wonderful, whimsical overall comic tone set by the director - no easy thing to achieve in just a few short minutes, but she pulls it off. All in all, this is a heck of a polished debut and I look forward to seeing what Angelique Little comes up with next. Bottom line: I think it would be pretty hard to see this film and not walk away with a big grin on your face.

Smart, sharp short
phughes-425 August 2005
I saw this on the Amazon contest and it took me a few minutes to figure out where it was even going. This boring-looking older couple is bickering over coffee in an hilariously drab kitchen, then it eventually shifts to a series of fuguey dream sequences about prostitutes, mythical brothers, the divine status of a Nepalese girl--but all still with them in the kitchen, and all illustrating, as a backdrop, the bickering that continues through the whole short. The actors do great deadpan deliveries, the dialogue is funny and well-written, and the whole thing is pretty tightly executed, especially impressive for a short. Definitely worth a watch if you get the chance.

Creative and intelligent

I loved this film. Very smart writing and dry humor. Especially fascinating was the "flashback" picture sequences of the little girls and the three brothers. The film's tension is advanced nicely with a back and forth argument between the husband and wife, who are played with appropriate drollness that only accentuates their "stuck with you" demeanors. The husband's Walter Mitty-like daydreams also add humor in a playful way, without sinking into cynicism. The director utilizes a deft touch with the actors and the material, delivering an end-feeling that is difficult to achieve in a seven minute film. Overall, it is good story-telling -- compact, fun and well-paced.
