Thanks for this homemade good laugh
cat-that-goes-by-himself6 September 2006
Frankly I'm impressed.

It is as funny as Bad taste was without the bad taste and with a good dose of of winks to other sci-fi movies instead. From the acting to the SFXs and editing, we can see something already sufficient to put to shame more than one million dollar movie. And it even has kind of a plot, that would easily bear the comparison with more than one wannabee blockbuster (does battlefield: Earth or Signs spring into mind ?).

I'm sure I missed quite a few Norwegian private jokes, but still without them I had a hearty good laugh. Hats off to homemade studios for doing something this funny with practically zero budget.

Trondheim in Flames !!
O.K it has some bad moments, some plot holes, but even Star Wars had a plot hole, basically the whole trilogy was a swiss cheese! Who cares, i love the Star Wars trilogy, of course Star Wars had the Death Star, mmm..., FUTURE WARS works so well because it is well made and written, and because it has an army of stuntmen & FX wizards. This seems to have infused itself within the confines of the producers mindset. Here we are treated to machines being blown up, explosions, concussion shocks, FX , cars exploding, helicopter crashes, more explosions and a nuclear war featuring - you've guessed it - FX and fantastic explosions. The explosion FX might are groundbreaking even in 2006 and makes even T3: Rise of the Machinas look extremely dated. You'd think lots of more famous movies of today might of copied off it hoping that no one saw it such as Jumanji, The Never-Ending Story, Space nuts, and the Nerd Patrol, etc.! And, furthermore, I was most impressed at the dead silence which befell the audience at the Norsk premier, at the almost Biblical vision of the city of Trondhiem being vaporized amid a barrage of alien laser fire!

Excellent.

Warning: Spoilers
Excellent movie. This is equal ore even better than the previous films like Fredrik Myklebusts; Die hard in the hut. For the record, both of the die hard in the hut movies are good, but might suffer from a small budget. Happily for us fan's. Roger Nybroen was doing a excellent job in this film. Hope to see more movies with his bold humor. What I feel made this movie so bold and interesting was the mixture of comic book dialog, and the homage too early 50's science fiction. Hope more excellent movies like this will come from Trondheim, Norway. Really nice to see young film makers daring to push the limits of both fantasy and budgets. Keep up the good work :)

Great low budget video production made with passion
o-kill18 October 2005
This is a great low budget video production, combining inspiration and elements from childhood classics, like Back To The Future, Star Wars, Starship Troopers, Bad Taste, Brödrene Dal og Spektralmysteriet and Flash Gordon. Yet they manage to add own flavors and spices to the brew, and the end result is quite fresh and one of a kind.

I know how much work went into this production, and I have seen the movie 4 times since I got it. This is a work of passion and with a vision for both comedy and detail, finished off with a profound love for sci-fi.

I am proud of being a friend of the director of this movie, and I can't wait to see his next movie project. Give this man a solid budget, and Peter Jackson should start feeling shivers down his spine. Big words? hey - quote me any day!

Check it out!

Fun Flick

This movie is great fun. A low budget science fiction movie, made with an undeniable love for the genre and B-movies in general. "Future Wars" is a movie that doesn't take itself too seriously and benefits greatly from it. A decent story is backed by OK acting, good action and great FX. A lot of Norwegians will probably find a lot of pleasure in seeing the destruction of the city of Trondheim, in a not so distant future. Are you a fan of cheesy low budget sci-fi? Then you should see "Future Wars", when you get the chance. This is great entertainment for the whole cheese loving family. If you disagree; see "Stela Polaris" and weep, looser.

A funny, adventurous, sci-fi movie with a very unexpected ending!
veine17 September 2005
Director Fredrik Myklebust is a director for the Future! It was an absolute pleasure to work with him on Future Wars and that comes through in the movie I think. Future Wars is a funny, adventurous sci-fi movie with a nice and unexpected ending - a twist that surprises everyone! What more do you need? What really drew me into the manuscript was the fact that so much is happening to the main character. It has to go through so many challenges that changes his world-view completely. To be honest I didn't think Fredrik would be able to transform this part of the manuscript into the movie - but he DID! And to a greater extent than I could ever imagine. The story of Future Wars is told very effectively which never leave you bored and some part is hysterically funny. And I have to add that the movie has a special sci-fi effect work made to it that is worth some million Hollywood movie dollars. See Future Wars!
