Superman Duped By Crooks?
ccthemovieman-120 August 2006
A high-society dame (Gloria Talbott) goes into the Daily Planet offices and wants to place a full-paid ad asking Superman to come to her apartment and entertain visiting royalty. Clark Kent gives the okay (we don't know if the ad ever got in) and Superman arrives the night, making a promised grand entrance by smashing though the window. After performing several feats of strength, a group picture is taken of the woman, the guest (Maurice Marsac, who is still alive and kicking at the age of 86) and the host (the mastermind crook played by series regular John Eldredge) of the affair, as well as Superman and Lois Lanes and Jimmy Olsen. The latter came along as a photographer and Lois simply because she's always nosy.

While the exhibition was going on, the crook's accomplice was elsewhere stealing counterfeit plates from the police station (how he could pull this off is not really explained). He returns them to his boss while the "show" is still going on and the crook takes those plates and pretends they are the ones Olsen just took of the party. He talks Superman into one last favor: fly these plates over the guest's foreign country so they care share in the night's festivities with his relatives. The plates are switched so that Superman is really flying the counterfeit plates instead, saving the crooks the attempt at trying to get them across the border.

Anyway, they leave the party-shot plate carelessly at a table and Olsen picks it up on the way out. Then, things don't add up even to a dimwit like him and so he and Lois go back to party for an explanation of why there isn't a plate missing. Of course, they are held captive...and well, not to spoil the ending I will quit here.

The Rich Have Feet of Clay
Hitchcoc9 February 2015
A rich young woman comes to the Daily Planet to buy an ad. In it she says she wants to hire Superman. She is having a party for a diplomat. She is willing to take out a full page ad. Clark tells her Superman isn't interested in doing tricks at someone's call. When she offers to give money to charity, it is decided that Superman will follow through. The idea is to trick Superman into flying some counterfeiting plates back to their home. Being a good guy, he shows up and does several feats of strength. The ultimate idea is to get the big lunk to go all the way to Europe to deliver what appears to be a film canister when in reality it is a counterfeiting plate that has been stolen from the police archives. Jimmy and Lois, as usual, give up their freedom by going headlong into danger. This is a nicely done episode with a clever twist at the end.
