Lisa Campbell, a resident of the tunnels who left for the surface world to become a ballet star suddenly returns to the tunnels. This stirs up memories for Vincent who had developed feelings for her when they were younger. He questions the reason for her visit and learns from Catherine about her difficulties with her less than idyllic marriage to a wealthy man with criminal connections and her faltering ballet career. Catherine's own life is endangered because Lisa has fled her husband's controlling influence and they believe Catherine knows her whereabouts. It's also revealed that Father interfered with Vincent and Lisa's relationship because of his concern for Vincent's emotional well being. Ultimately Lisa returns to the city to testify against her husband.
