The sorry people
bkoganbing8 February 2019
Accent is on the comedy in this Bonanza story as Hoss Cartwright gets caught up in trying to help his friend Eddie Firestone who is a hopeless schnook who can't hold down a steady job. Firestone would rather spend time on his racing mare. But that's impossible as both the mare Sally and his fire Kathie Browne are both in foal.

After trying any number of people Dan Blocker gets Firestone hired as an assistant tax collector by Russ Conway. Firestone does very well at the job, too well in assessing taxes including those on the Ponderosa.

Lorne Greene calls Firestone one of those 'sorry people' who are so lovable in their own helplessness that you get tangled in their mess trying to help them out. You have to connive and be sneaky with them and Ben Cartwright proves quite the conniver.

For those who like a little levity in their Bonanza this one is for you.
