Dan Tempest does not have much confidence on Lt Edward Beamish to repel any raiders. Whether they are pirates are Spaniards.

The navy approach to defence as practised by Beamish is flawed as far as Tempest is concerned.

This is tested when a raiding party of pirates sent by Blackbeard arrives to loot. One young lad Dickon is left behind.

The absent Governor, Woodes Rogers recognises that Tempest is needed and offers a deal of a privateer. Beamish will provide him with weapons so Tempest can repel any threats from the sea.

Only Dockon, now a cabin boy for Tempest reckons that this can be a good deal for Blackbeard. Only Blackbeard has sprung a trap for Dand Tempest.

Some nice comic interplay between Tempest and Beamish. Nice to see that from Robert Shaw, better known for some intense roles.

You would think that Tempest might have been too trusting of Blackbeard and would have had an alternative plan in case he got betrayed.
