Walt Disney and Fess Parker bid farewell to Davy Crockett in this final Crockett film where Davy teams up with his old rival Mike Fink the self styled King of the River to defeat some white river pirates who are disguising themselves as Indians and stirring up what could be a nasty Indian war.
Fess Parker and Buddy Ebsen find out about it when some previously friendly Chickasaws kidnap them. Davy Crockett has to do some fast talking and give his word to get to the bottom of who's doing the river piracy.
This was a minor incident in the previous Crockett story about the keel boat race. The head villain is Mort Mills and he's a mean one. But the team of Crockett and Fink can stand up to anyone.
Jeff York is as bluff and expansive and braggadocious as Mike Fink maybe more so in this sequel. He really steals this film in every scene he's in.
Still recommended after 60 years for the kid in all of us.
