Perhaps the best episode.

I am a huge fan of "Frasier" and it's one of my favorite network television shows. I have never reviewed any of the shows and have taken a moment to do it for "Door Jam" because it is among the best...perhaps the very best. It is wonderfully written and the ending is simply hilarious.

The show begins with Frasier accidentally getting a private invitation for Cam Winston, his nemesis, to go to something called "La Porte D'Argent". But he and Niles have no idea what that is...but they want to go there because it sounds very exclusive and snobby. When they arrive at the place, it turns out to be a heavenly health spa. Niles and Frasier love the place and declare that they MUST come back....until they notice a golden door. That door is for the 'Gold Level'...something their membership does not include. Naturally, they'd kill to manage to get into that even more exclusive level. Where it all goes next, you'll just need to see for yourself.

Excellent writing, a great punchline and a chance, once again, to see Niles and Frasier get their comeuppance....from which, naturally, they learn absolutely nothing!

One of the best episodes in the entire series

This episode is very funny, both in the jokes and the physical comedy. It is the best of this entire season and perhaps the entire series. I don't want to say too much and spoil anything. Just don't miss this one and make your own decision.

One of the best Frasier episodes ever

I'd give this a score of 11 if I could. This episode is simply hilarious, and it is soooo Frasier and Niles. The writing, the jokes, the typical "Nothing is good enough" attitude that the two brothers have is just classic, as is David Hyde Pierce's physical comedy at the end.

By the way, reviewer Hitchcoc at this point isn't enjoying the shows at all, so he might as well stop watching them. While I agree that the quality of Frasier suffered a lot in Season 9 and perhaps part of Season 10 , "Door Jam" is an absolutely 5 gold-star Frasier episode.

In summary, this is a MUST SEE!

Where on Earth did this come from?!" This is the sort of episode that 'Frasier' hasn't been able to produce in years.

Somewhere along the way after Series seven the show seemed to stop exploring the snobby natures of the brothers Crane, and boy was that missed.

This episode is a real return to form in everyway, and could have come straight from the golden era.

Lots of lovely moments, lots of lovely lines. People on this site have said that it's up there with some of the best episodes ever from across the shows eleven year run, and I'm inclined to agree.

What a shame that this standard is a rare thing now indeed.

I really like Frasier and have routinely enjoyed the show. But this is, for me, one of the least enjoyable of the ten years. The two men are so ridiculous that even their pomposity goes over the top. If you want to see the foundation for this, look up the word Egress and P. T. Barnum.
