A superb episode. One of the best.

Hancock's latest profession, that of a lawyer, looks like coming to an end, after losing ten straight cases, he's given one final chance, he's less than pleased to discover his client is Sid, who has 58 charges against him.

Classic, I'm so grateful that this episode exists, when you read through the various episode synopsis, this one really does stand out. It's always wonderful to see what project Hancock is involved in, I was not expecting to see him as a Lawyer.

There's that wonderful scene where Hancock riles up The Desk Sergeant, receiving fine after fine, comedy gold.

No episode highlights the sheer, absolute brilliance of Tony Hancock better than this one. His performance is outstanding, from that first moment where he gives evidence against his own client, to his efforts to defend Sid.

A terrific cast, look out for John le Mesurier, Hugh Lloyd, Arthur Mullard and the most marvellous turn from Bill Fraser, who was tremendous.

9/10.

The Lawyer: The Crown v James S

Hancock becomes a barrister of law and is not a very good one. In his most recent case the accused was sent down for serial bigamy.

Hancock led the prosecution but he was meant to defend him.

Three Home Secretaries have had to resign because of Hancock's misconduct in court.

Now in the last chance saloon. The head of his chambers have given Hancock his old pal Sid to defend.

Sid has been accused of robbery with over 200 witnesses. He parked the getaway car at a bus stop.

Can Hancock set Sid free? He needs his advocacy skills at its sharpest so the jury are eating out of his hand.

The best part of the episode were the scenes at the police station where Hancock attends to see the prisoner. The Police Sergeant cites Hancock multiple times for motor offences.
